I have a case manager and I guess they can do therapy now. I'm gonna ask her if she thinks it's worth doing therapy. I don't want to start though if she isn't gonna be able to take the time. My last therapist was really distant and rushed me. I just feel like it opened all the wounds. Like I'm raw. I'm hoping the case manager can help.

Well like mine was trained In cbt for psychosis in Europe but came here for her doctorate....she was very upbeat and truly believed people could get better...many american T's still believe it's something lifelong so they just give you coping skills rather than techniques to actively combat voices etc. totally different approach and when people believe you can get better it's much easier to actually do...

That's great! Very different than my experience with therapy. All the therapists I've seen, if I brought up psychosis at all they'd just say, "get a med adjustment." They never engaged with me at all.

And they sure as hell can't treat personality disorders... but that's another topic entirely.

my laptop be crapping out. I think it's time for a new laptop. I wonder how many Republicans complain if I do get a new laptop (by the help of christmas money and birthday money) and the fact that I'm on SSI.

See I think cbt would work great for psychosis bc it is about thought. But I did cognitive processing therapy which is supposed to really work for trauma but I felt like I was just lying. My therapist was like just believe this is true when it wasn't! It didn't work and I tried my hardest. I just don't think cbt works for deep traumas. My thoughts aren't wrong, what happened was wrong!

I don't know I still think cbt could help to some extent. Not so much with did it happen or not and was it horrible or not but cbt is more than just thinking it also has the behavioral elements. So first thing is they don't talk about the past beyond say the last year or so anyway....strangely it has little to do with the setting so much as what you are actively feeling now. So let's say you worry to much about stuff....what you do is set up a time for worrying it could be once a day or once a week so you not down your worry and 6pm Friday and say you'll think about it then for an hour and your mind tends to accept that and not over think things. If you are mildly depressed you can close yourself into a room and just laugh at nothing for ten minutes because the biological action of laughing releases the happy neurotransmitters even if you aren't actually happy. You can also do the triple happiness approach....take three things you like and combine them into one activity....I'm going to the botanical garden to photograph flowers while playing my favorite tunes on mp3 and drinking an iced tea.

This I we is new to me but if you are having anxiety before bed due to too many bought a racing around you take a notebook and write out the issue and a possible solution before going to bed ....this is even if you need to say something like at ten am I will plan out such and such a thing. We did breathing exercises, timelines pie charts etc.

So yeah it won't erase your trauma but it can very rapidly erase some of the current effects that you're having...it's defiantly not all meta cognition....I think the best part really was the changing your behavior to change your mood part...

Yeah my little netbook was on xp so I bought myself something called an ultrabook...solid state hard drive....super fast...after like two weeks it wouldn't even start. FedEx should be bringing it back again tomorrow but I mean really I kind of have a distaste for it now that it's failed...one of the reasons I bought it wa so that the hard drive would not fail.....sure this was probably a motherboard issue but still I just wanted it to last for 3-5 years without losing whatever I put on it. Anyway don't get an acer ultrabook....

I appreciate ur opinions but it didn't work for me. I tried harder at it more than I have in any therapy. All it did was trigger me. A friend of mine explained it well. A good therapist will take u through the trauma and beyond to relief. A bad one does the exposure part but leaves u left hurting. That's what happened after I did the exposure part she pretty much bailed. I don't want to get into it though, it didn't work for me. Cbt does work for me for simple problems, but that's it. That's my opinion.
Thanks for this!
