Hmm, I wonder why people list their dx and rx in their signature.

I've been wondering that for ages. I don't like telling people what meds I'm on... and if you want to know what my diagnoses are you can look at my profile page. It's not hard. Heh.

i think its just a thing people do to either make it easier for people to know about them or some people do it as vanity. i think. i had my dx in there for a short period of time cuz i was visiting other forums . but for very short time because i didnt like it. idk...just what i think...

I used to have mine....basically I was afraid of being judged as not being whatever the forum was ie not officially sz or whatever....the meds well I specifically came on here for help with my meds so that seemed handy so I didn't have to explain every time....

Then there was a convo I think on roll call just like this one and I changed it to a quote which I periodically change but I like this shamanism one so I might just keep it....it was something Einstein and then imagine dragons....

It can be quite subtle... I didn't think the meds I was taking the first time around were doing much but they were doing something.

Newtus, it can be hard to tell after three days just how much the meds are or aren't going to help. I'd say give it some more time, and see how you feel and function.

You can work. They just adjust your ssi. But you don't lose it. At least in Texas. My daughter is on ssi and works part time at a school cafeteria

I don't know. Maybe it makes them feel more legitimate when they give advice.

For awhile I had 'Dx: Didgee Disorder' in my signature. I put that there because I don't really identify with my diagnoses (except for ASD) and I wanted people to know that I am a person rather than an illness. Since I'm really open about having ASD there was no need to add it.

That is the first med my daughter took. It was amazing. At first it made her extremely sleepy, like she slept thru the first 2 weeks. As time went on and it had to be increased, she had about a week of serious sleepiness. It did not cause any weight gain, and was very effective for almost 3 years. So we had a very positive experience with it.

Thank you for your reply. I think I am going to go on this med soon. I tend to get terrible side effects however, so it remains to see if I'll be able to tolerate it.

Ugh, I'm getting sick of my labile mood at the moment... I was agitated this morning, then down, then happy, then down and now happy again. I hope my referral comes through soon.

Hope you feel better soon Lawscot. Are you waiting on a referral to a new psych or something?

Thanks.

After my symptoms virtually all disappeared, my p-doc 'discharged' me after a 3 month check up. That was like 11 months ago. I guess that's standard procedure for the NHS.

I would have just called my last p-doc instead of getting a referral through my GP but a) I wasn't that fond of him & b) he has retired.

Had a good day today. I felt brave so I walked the dog. That went okay. My rabbit breeder friend came over with my new pet rabbit. I'm so pleased with that. I groomed the dog. I feel so cheerful today. Been a while since I've ever been in such a good mood. I'm not counting on it lasting though. My mood can change so quickly.

Well, she was first put on abilify and had terrible side effects. But others.have found abilify to be life-changing. Point is.. try Geodon, expect to be sleepy for a couple of weeks, and if you have a bad reaction to it call your Dr immediately. There are lots of different meds to try, so don't be afraid of it. Just know what side effects would justify stopping it.

I was on geodon and got really bad akathasia on it. But for some it works wonders. You kinda have to take a risk and see if it will work for you.

I wasn't sleepy on it, but I also felt really nauseous on it. So I had to take an additional med for the akathisia and an additional med for the nausea. So for me it wasn't worth it. But, like I said some ppl don't have any negative side effects.

Hope it works for you.

I took a break from PC because I felt like I was just going around in circles and people were getting fed up of my questioning the same things and that I was wasting people's time reading and replying to my posts. But also I've lately realised that I need to figure out what is going on and what to do about it on my own; that I shouldn't give power to strangers on the Internet (or healthcare professionals, family, friends IRL) to define me. It's not that I don't value you guys as friends, or your experiences as helpful, it's just I have been putting too much weight onto individual opinions, like the pdoc who said I was faking automatically meant that I was faking but didn't know.

I thought the 'answer' was to avoid PC until I was certain what was going on and what I wanted to do about it, but maybe that's avoidance, idk? But I've missed hearing about you all, though I have read bits a few times. So what I'm going to try to do is just write how I feel and stop expecting you guys to tell me what's going on. And if I forget, because I'm only human, maybe you could remind me that it's what I think that counts?!

Anyway, I'm currently working with a T and trying to figure out what is going on. I've told him that I'm not interested in his 'diagnosis' and so far we've settled on 'North is Lost' (after the poem I wrote a few weeks ago). The biggest problem right now is that I've lost my core self/gut feeling ('North') and I've been trying to get others to tell me who I am when they can't possibly do that. But also the noise frequency has been SO LOUD 24/7 since I went away with my family for a few days about a fortnight (that's 2 weeks in American!) ago, presumably as punishment, and my disability review is coming up in just over a month so the surveillance is more intense. And I've been struggling with motivation more, probably because I deferred Uni again and my self-esteem took another hit it could ill afford, but I have tried to push through this and have signed up for a few little courses, but I also keep climbing back into bed in the middle of the day when I get overwhelmed. A work in progress, shall we say! Lol

I hope everyone is doing ok. I've missed chatting to you all And welcome to all the new people

I've been noticing a sudden up flux of ignorance and stupidity in school over the years.... No offense to those people but a lot seem..... Dumbed down. Is this just me? Once again I mean no offense to those spoken of and I do not intend to offend any who read this.

I think standards are slipping in education Amazingblob. My youngest brother and sister apparently have "average" maths and English abilities, yet they seem unable to grasp simple things and I really worry about the future if that is the level of 'average' ability for kids these days. For example my 11yo sister couldn't work out change from £3 for £2.30 worth of items, and my 18yo brother couldn't work out what each item (originally all £6) actually cost after the 3 for 2 offer had been applied!!! And this is "average" apparently!

Ya I'm "above average" and the above average classes are too easy. For example in Math we are still learning about integers but i got it down on the 3rd day.
