I'm probably just overreacting but I'd like some of your opinions on my "symptoms." I have a history of mental disorder in my family (my brother is schizophrenic and my mom is bipolar) and I'm wondering if I'm becoming schizo as well. I'm a fairly heavy marijuana smoker and have been for about a year, and I've also experimented with Psylocybin Mushrooms and LSD. After my 3rd time doing LSD I now have visual and auditory hallucinations at times when I'm not on a drug. I experience these hallucinations usually after I smoke marijuana now. I hear a type of "buzzing"/radio frequency noise and I seem particularly sensitive to sound. I also get into sort of a dissociative state where I'm not even sure if I'm "real" so to speak. It also feels as though I have double vision during these times.

When I'm not on any drugs I frequently pause in the middle of conversation and gaze for a minute or so without blinking, and then I forget what we were discussing. I have a hard time expressing thoughts and ideas to friends... people seem to have a hard time following what I'm saying sometimes. Also, I get these twitchy feeling in my upper lip/cheek bone that I can't control. I've been biting my tongue quite a bit recently as well and I even have trouble formulating thoughts and speaking without slurring my words. Any thoughts?

I hope you are aware clarity, that among the physicians who are here, I've yet to notice any post they made that included a diagnosis. If you are truly concerned, you should probably see a doctor.

That said, within this forum you will find some personal accounts of individuals who have gone through the experience of psychosis and/or schizophrenia. It may be helpful to read through them -- if you are having similar experiences I would suggest that you seek out the professional caregiver of your choice.

if you are not having similar experiences it will still be worthwhile to examine your drug use. Some studies have linked schizophrenia with marijuana useage, and both mushrooms and LSD are hallucinogenic drugs that are known to produce altered states of consciousness.

If you are using these drugs as part of a spiritual path I suggest you consider a less harmful practice such as meditation, drumming, or chanting. I also suggest you explore the links between drug use and psychosis so you can make a thoroughly informed decision before continuing with your experimentation for whatever purpose.

You may further find it beneficial to read a little bit about both Isaiah and Michael. Drug use played a role in their experiences Dedication.

As a belated PS: Your brother might enjoy my blog: Spiritual Recovery. It's devoted to the subject of recovery from psychosis and/or schizophrenia. You'll find it linked in my signature.

honestly...i dont know about anyone else but it seems pretty easy to tell you what it probably is. drugs do tend to mess up the brain...it probably is the heavy drug use, they are unwanted substances that your brain is trying to handle, that your body is trying to handle. I strongly suggest you find a drug rehab program along with a therapist. I would also suggest you talk to your doctor about looking into the affects the drugs also have done. Remember, I am not a doctor so you really should find someone qualified to diagnosis yourself. But i strongly urge you to quit the drugs...they really do mess up alot thingsin us. Its not healthy. Please find some help and i hope you get answers. Good luck and take care. Love, Inny
