Evening all...

I'm soo sleeeepy tonight. Too tired to read through roll call... not sedated though, just regular tired. I think perhaps a paracetamol & codeine tablet may partly be to blame on top of a long day, was up at 6am.

Looking forward to my cosy bed.

Edit: just seen your reply angelique, that makes more sense. At least there is some cover out there for people without the funds! What are municipal hospitals like?
If you're poor enough you can get on Medicaid.

If you're not poor enough you're screwed. I got my kids on Medicaid. Trying to get me and my husband as well. Here's an example. I need a sleep apnea machine. It's $700. I don't have $700. Sleep apnea causes organ damage, heart attacks, coronary artery disease, and more problems that will make you sicker and sicker. I've been trying to get a sleep apnea machine for a year.

I live in fear of getting anything even more serious. And of course, my mental health goes untreated, 5 years now. Whoo! USA!

"Obamacare" didn't do anything for anyone except the health insurance companies. Our country isn't run by politicians. If you're voting don't look at the politician, look at what companies are funding their campeign. that's who you're actually voting into office. Politicians are only puppets. We are run by corporations. And it was the halting of a true national system (such as putting everyone born here on Medicare and revamping the system to work on sliding scale taxes based on income for premiums,) and making it illegal to be without healthcare that screwed everyone.

Let me ask you this one question....

If you had a product that everyone had to have by law.... would you lower the price?

NO

Dumbest thing ever. And those idiots who go on about "my taxes pay your premium." Hahaha, OMG I would just love for them to have to live in my shoes. People who blame the politicians are idiots. It's the insuance companies and hospitals that caused this nightmare. Greed. See, I qualify financially for subsidies. But the actual law states that if your work offers insurance for less than 9.5% of your income you can't get a subsidy. My insurance is over 20% of my income. BUT see, that 9.5% is ONLY for INDIVIDUAL policies. It doesn't take into account a family policy. And if you have kids you get charged child abuse if you don't have insurance on them now. This is the stupidity of the whole thing.

Trusting corporations is like trusting the devil to tuck you in at night. Stupid.

anyway, that's the end of the ranting. I promise.... lol...

But, Newtus, I think the nose ring looks good and if it is something you like I don't see a problem. I also like your hat.

Yes the US health system is really messed up! :/ That whole selling your property within 5 years before you die in a home can be considered fraud! That's messed up! How can they pass on a debt when you're dead? That doesn't make any sense!

What is Obama care? Wasn't Obama supposed to change the system but got a load of resistance from republicans? My knowledge of American politics is minimal.

Edit: faerie_moon you just answered my question just as I posted

I don't know how they get away with that. Our health system isn't perfect, but nobody gets left out. We also don't have too many using the 'my taxes pay your bills' argument. Of course you're going to get people who are lazy and will not contribute to society by working and paying taxes, you'll get that in every country. But the thing is, these people are far and few between. It's by helping people who are down on their luck that can improve situations for entire families!

Crazy stuff, that's why I'll never live in the US. I'll emigrate to Canada all the way

Chickenfoot are you sure you want to move to Canada? Our winters are nasty. It is frigid here for about three months except in Vancouver.

In Canada people often have to wait for medical services unless the problem is urgent such as cancer. A lot of people don't have family doctors so they use the ER or walk-in clinics. Seeing a specialists in the US doesn't often require a referral. A patient can self-refer. We cannot do that in Canada.

Apparently some hospitals in the US are really fancy and resemble hotels. We have nothing like that here.

The plan is to go for at least a year, probably to Vancouver! Have a lot of friends there.

I still think I'd rather that system than the one the US uses, even with its flaws.

Oh yes, in the US hospitals are fancy. I had to stay 2 weeks in one due to health problems. $25,000 bill. I had better insurance then. I'm still paying back the $2000 that was my part of it.

But here's how insurance works. I work for a health care company, family doctors. For a visit of $130 most insurances with a co-pay will pay around $15 for that visit. Co-pays are between $20-$50 usually, so the patient pays that much. The rest is written off. But you have to remember the insurance premium paid by the average family of 4 is around $1000 a month. So if you go to the doctor 1 time in a month and they pay $15, the insurance company made $985 profit that month. They don't put your money into an account for you.

So a healthy family is giving the insurance company $12,000 every year.

Now most insurance has deductibles. Like mine ends up at $8000 and my insurance actually is more expensive, but im lucky my work pays part. but some are higher. I had a co-worker with a $10,000 deductible. So if your deductible is $10,000 you're actually paying $22,000 a year before the insurance covers anything. My hospital stay was $25,000. It feels like you're better off just having a savings account that can only be used for medical bills.

Anyway.... I'm not feeling all that great. Can you tell? Maybe not I've been gone a while. Lol. I think I'm more ranting when I'm feeling like I have the last few days.

Brain needs to slow down. Agitated state needs to chill out. I've been useless all day. Today is a bad day to feel bad. Because today is my husband's b-day and I want it to be good! Stupid brain. I don't want to sabotage his day.

Wow that is a lot of money. I didn't know insurance was so costly. Does it cover prescriptions and other medical supplies and equipment?

Any other cities you want to visit? If you visit Ottawa come in the summer.

Our healthcare only covers permanent residents and Canadian citizens. Everyone else has to pay and the rates are a lot higher than what hospitals bill medicare.

I'd love to visit Calgary, Montreal and Toronto (for the hockey hall of fame museum)! I'm a big hockey fan so Canada has been on my list of places to see for a long time. Though I support a Californian team!

The health thing wouldn't really bother me, if anything serious happened I could always have travel insurance or the choice to come home. Not sure when I'll be able to make it there, need to find a job first!

Wow, I didn't know you liked hockey. Would that be the Sharks, Ducks or the Kings? I'm a Senators fan. The Canadiens used to be my team when I was a child. I grew up in a community that was crazy about hockey. Everyone in my family loves the game except my mother. We bore her when we talk about it.

I read about some hockey teams in Ireland a few years ago.

I've been to the Hockey Hall of Fame. The highlight of my visit was seeing the Cup. It is quite big.

Yeah I love Ice hockey, got into it from playing the xbox games years ago! I support the Ducks, again this is from playing the games. I try watch it as much as possible but the western conference games are usually on at around 3am here so it can be difficult sometimes.

I hear there's an Irish jersey in the hall of fame! I'd love to get over there and see the cup too!

Used to play for a team in Dublin, though I wasn't very good at it. It was fun though
Thanks for this!

I'm a wreck every time I have to move also but it will be OK. It always feels like it might not be though.

Suddenly roll call slowed down. Where's the people in the UK this morning? For once I got up before 11! I might be getting back on a better schedule now.

Hi Neil! I'm so impressed by your website! Wow! I know you mentioned moving too. Do you have a place to go or will you have to look for one?
