I ask, because I went to that kind of office before, and had to cope with rotating residents every six months for three years. They had me on seven different psych meds by the time I fired them and went to a more experienced pdoc. I was truly a mess, sleeping 17 or 18 hours on weekends when I wasn't working and having crying panic attacks at work every day before I ended up on disability.

I always hope that my experience is not common. It sounds like you're happy with your treatment, which is great!
I see an attending, she's actually in charge of the residents---I only see her every 6 months though while stable----I would honestly prefer a little more often....

I'm lucky, I am losing weight not gaining, but I can see where the extreme lethargy can make you gain.

I can relate to all the things you used to do more, I can't read more than 20 minutes at a time without falling asleep, I can't do puzzles anymore, and I rarely go outside either.

I hear you about wanting to get off or reduce your meds. I'm stuck myself, everytime I go off them, I have another full-on psychotic episode.

I'm sorry you aren't feeling well.

That's great that you are able to see an attending. I saw one for five minutes at the end of my first appointment and then never even saw the shadow of one.

I don't know that I could go six months between pdoc visits - in fact, I know I couldn't. I can see why you want more often.

They said my posts are worthless and that it's too bad newcomers to the site wouldn't know that. This was on a completely different site. It's usually moderated well but lately some strange stuff has been happening.

I feel so lousy. My sinuses have been messed up for over a week now and my eyes are itching so much. And the noise downstairs is too loud. I feel horrible.

You sound fed up with meds entirely but have you ever considered that now that you've stopped smoking some of the meds you've tried before might be more effective? You could try the weight neutral ones which also seem to be less sedating....there are also two entirely new meds that are available...brexpiprizole and cariprazine...probably not what you want to hear but it just seems haldol may not be the med for you....of course I'll admit I've become pretty pro-med since my trial off meds....

the weight neutral ones are never weight neutral for ME. i think the entire time i smoked i was on haldol. before i smoked i was on others i believe. i smoked off/on mostly for 10 years BUT i smoked straight everyday from 21-24. since i was on haldol.

ugh i cant believe i missed my pdoc appt. that makes me so upset.

im starting to become anti-med since ive seen what it does to me.

lets just be real here. im at a county clinic. they have a set of meds they prescribe to everyone. of course i could be on another med but id still be on their rotation of meds they give to everyone. they wont do new meds im pretty sure. i mean i mentioned clozaril before and my pdoc immediately mentioned another med to get me off the subject of that one. he was like "no. no. how about abilify?". i really dont want to offend anyone but i cant stand having indian doctors that barely speak english and got their degrees in another country. thats who they hire at this clinic. so i struggle with that enough. plus trying to get the meds i would like to try. i know clozaril isnt that good to try. its not weight neutral but i just spit it out.

i struggle with these doctors to listen to me. ive never had a good repor with doctors except ONE hospital pdoc. he doesnt see individuals. id die to see him.

ill try another med maybe. but which one? which ones are TRULY weight neutral? i tried them all to be honest. all atypical and typicals except clozaril.

Clozaril is associated with the most weight gain plus you have to have the bloodwork. Weight neutral are abilify, Geodon and Latuda....the two new ones brexpiprizole and cairiprazine im not sure....but cairiprazine is supposed to work on negative symptoms....it just got approved though so I doubt it will be widely availble for a couple of months.....

Yeah that whole "weight neutral" thing is bulls_it for me too. I put on a lot of weight on amisulpride which isn't available in the US but is considered weight neutral. I've heard the same about abilify.

I'm ten pounds up but I gained it on risperidone not abilify....abilify isn't a gainer for me but it doesn't let me lose weight either.....
