Roll Call 100: Centennial Edition

Well, my brothers and sisters are in their 30s and 50's. They accepted me well. Im sure i could be an exception. Good thing is that my parents are old enough now they dont want anymore kids so i dont have to accept any children.

I just saw an advertisement on fb for an online school and all the comments were like "its not a real school!". "Goto a real school". It makes me extremely nervous now about my choice. Even tho it does have a campus and is a real school, i would be getting my degree online....

Ugh...idk

One girl commented how employers dont take people online degrees. Like dont like to hire them.

Not sure how im supposed to find a job i guess

If you're getting a degree in philosophy it's for you not a job right? So it doesn't matter if it's online....

@newtus even though I did my schooling through a private college places I tried to find employment at said I was overqualified or others laughed at me because I was working as a cook for 4 years prior and now wanted to work in a totally different environment! Apparently now I am highly sought after because the private school is highly accredited

One of my roommates has family visiting and they are laughing and crying (a child) very loudly! She usually goes to bed at 8, sometimes 7. She imposes way too much.

She is much older than me but she doesn't talk to us

True. I guess i just want everything to be perfect. My MOST perfect scenario was getting that degree from my local uni. I mean i dont expect to goto harvard. But then also this school is not for-profit (asu) and is accredited regionally.

I want to be proud to put that i got my degree from this school, on my fb....not just my associates from a community college...

I mean....what if i liked my degree so much i wanted to go get my masters in philosophy? Locally. What then?

I don't know much about masters, but they are expensive....fasfa will not pay for that I believe only bachelors. They aren't as picky with admissions to my knowledge because you're paying them and not the other way around. Could cost you $50 G.

Well we will see when that road comes. As for now im wondering if i got my undergrad degree from asu if i even can get a masters locally (will it be recognized)(assuming ill be doing well mentally by then with my illness you know).

Only reason im doing a 4 year degree online is because my meds and mental health.

I hope im making the right decision.

If it's accredited it should be recognized...

I might be thinking too far ahead but i am trying to prepare for my future.

Maybe i should just stick to my original plan

It is. Its regionally accredited. But would it make a difference if its accredited with a different regionally accredited place than the uni i want to take my masters from? (Assuming i even will)

I just want to be proud of choosing a good school. Local uni seems to be out of the question for right now. Until i get better. I realize its no harvard like i said but when i finish i want to be proud to put it on my fb or even show employers if asked if i have any degrees.

Someone said online "if you goto x and you live in y and get a job at z, of course they are gonna know its online"

Thank you. I just wish people didnt know i had an online degree. But they will. Apparently, according to comments about online schools, everyone looks down on you.

I just wonder how do people factor in people like ME, people who are sick either mentally or physically and cant go in person? But still even tho i am i dont want to have to tell people "oh i have a mental illness, thats why i got it online." Theyll say "oooooh ok" but then that will only immortalize them thinking how dumb i am because oh yea i have a freakkng mental illness!!!!

My university offered online courses by some of the best professors they had to offer. I don't think your degree will say this or that will be an online course. It will say something like PHL 302 for Modern Philosophy 302 or HST 220 for Ancient Greek History.

I began reading the series in the hospital, and ended it in the hospital (two different visits, I wasn't there for the months it took to read the series)

It's really great, it's my favorite series of all time. I will say, books 11-14 are really really good. No spoilers though :P
