My son's back in the psych ward I feel for him and yet I'm relieved
for his big brother. It must be very exhausting
for the sufferer and the carer.

They've put him in an isolation ward
and then he will go to a high security ward.
the time in May this year he jumped the wall
and walked home in the rain!

The relief to me is that he is getting care, and
yet it always feels like its not the right solution
for him either. He is 20 years old. During psychosis
he kept mentioning 1993 (when he was 6 yrs old)
and his grandmother (who died from mad cows disease)
and he wanted to talk to his uncle (1 of my brs.)
I feel really helpless living a 1000km away.

Come on time get us to our destination!(ackn re Yehehua)
but not before brnkrn returns
and not before there are any solutions!!! My son's back in the psych ward My son's back in the psych ward

Hello Julia:

They've put him in an isolation ward and then he will go to a high security ward. the time in May this year he jumped the wall and walked home in the rain!

Why are the constraints so tight? Walking home in the rain hardly seems a crime. Is there some other history there that would justify him, literally, being treated like a prisoner?

... he kept mentioning 1993 (when he was 6 yrs old) and his grandmother (who died from mad cows disease) and he wanted to talk to his uncle (1 of my brs.)

And idea why these dates and people are so important to him? For example, did something of significance happen in 1993? Was he especially close to his grandmother or uncle?

The relief to me is that he is getting care, and yet it always feels like its not the right solution for him either.

It doesn't seem like there are many options available in this culture at least. Individuals who have the resources may find better options of care in other countries or cultures. The very resourceful may be able to create them for themselves.

I'm sorry, this must be so difficult for everyone. My son's back in the psych ward

and I'm so sorry he's being treated like a criminal.(IMO) My son's back in the psych ward My son's back in the psych ward

I think I would have jumped the wall and walked in the rain too! can't say I blame him.

I hope family that are involved in deciding his care will NOT just take the advice of the staff where he is being held. I hope his family will put much much time into research and understanding to what is going on and what is best for him......... I believe the answer is out there and it might not be what most will try to convince.......

my heart is with you and him and your family. My son's back in the psych ward

Thanks for your response Spiritual Emergency
I have been slowly reading your posts like Hope etc.
I will slowly take in the info with many reads.
I'm in Sydney Australia
my son is in Queensland Australia.
Some parts of psychiatric care here resembles
a catch 22 situation.

Well the time he went into p.hosp
from living on the beach for 3 weeks
his phychosis was telling him that food
wasn't necessary for life
he lay in front of a womens toilet block
with his eyes open 24/7 he did drink water
from the toilets at least.
when me and his dad eventually
found him we had food and he thought
we were trying to do something wrong.
He is not actually anorexic or anything
Another time he lay with his head
inside a computer 24/7 and attacked me
when I tried to disconnect the power to
computer(I thought for safety)
He hasn't been very coherent for over
a year.
He appreciates his uncle who is also schizophrenic.
the rest I"m not so sure.

Thanks Mandyfins
just reading your kind thoughts is a
comfort to me.
He is my youngest son
and he was the happiest baby
in the universe
now he seems to be the most
lost perhaps on another universe
I have seen his painting where he
stands between 2 aliens with halos
he can see halos or auras around most
ppl he cant understand why I dont see them.

There is a woman I'm aware of in Australia who does some promising work with individuals who have been diagnosed as schizophrenic. You could review some of the material at her websites (I always suggest sharing this material with the individual who is actually undergoing the process) and then contact her if you feel comfortable doing so. Her name is Dr. Maureen Roberts. She's a Jungian trained psychiatrist. Even if she's not able to provide assistance, it's possible she can recommend someone else in your area who can.
[*] Temenos
[*] Schizophrenia Drug Free Crisis Center & Help Line

It's possible that the Spiritual Emergency Network in Australia could also provide some assistance or recommendations for professional therapists or treatments in your area.
[*] Spiritual Emergency Network - Australia

Best to you and your son, Julia.

like he doesn't mind.
and if its ok to say BrnKrn is relieved
he has respite from his carer role for a bit.

I'm so sorry to hear that Julia. It's always so difficult to watch someone you love, suffer. I hope your son finds the help he needs and the next news you hear is good news.

I was in a maximum security psych ward and all i have to say about that is it helped no one. That simply was not in its design. I hope he gets out real soon to atleast a minimum security facility where they can and should be keeping an eye on him so he won't run away instead of doing the restraint thing.

I'm sorry he's going through this. Does he take meds or is he just noncompliant? Hopefully there are meds out there that can help him.

There's a good book from an Australian author about schizophrenia. It's titled "Recovered, not Cured" I would suggest reading that.

You have all my support at this difficult time. I hope he gets better soon.

Tara
