I'm now under huge unsolvable life issues and the stress is unbearable. Will too much stress lead to schiz?? Lately I'v been feeling so dizzy and light-headed. dunno if they're early symptoms of schiz or just depression?

Dizziness and lightheadness are not symptoms of schizophrenia. Is there another reason you suspect that you havee that disorder?

Perhaps you very stressed out, and not eating right? Stress and anxiety can definately cause us a LOT of problems.

What is going on in your life to cause you so much stress?

Dormant_Volcano:

Those symptoms by themselves, are not symptoms of schizophrenia. There would have to be other factors such as genetics....is it in your family?

These two websites above should be able to tell you anything you wish to know about schizophrenia.

As for stress, that can bring out many frustrating and worrisome symptoms. Often these symptoms are associated with other illnesses but it is simply stress alone causing it.

This website will inform you of long term stress problems. I hope this information helps.

Schizophrenia is a neurological condition-- stress, alone, cannot cause it. Normally the first signs are auditory hallucinations. Dizziness can be a symptom of panic attacks or general anxiety-- have you been checked out by your doctor to rule out any medical conditions?

life stresses that are basically insoluble, will NOT cause schizophrenia.

the anxiety however can cause some extremely strange symptoms as it changes the endocrine balance of the body, tell you doctor about your concerns, s/he will probably be able to relieve your mind of this concern immediately and make some suggestions about coping with stress.

Look into something called Minfulness. It's a Buddhist practice at heart but it has many non-religious applications. I find it highly beneficial in my personal and professional life.

Mindfulness. Being aware of one's own thoughts and feelings -- all of them. I find it to be a rather simple concept, fancied up sometimes in ways that make it seem exotic and foreign and accessible only to the special person. For me, it is surprisingly simple and easy to understand and connects to other theories of what causes mental disorders such as some of the writings of Freud. All that means there must be something to it!

Not necessarily easy to practice, though, since one has often been practicing just the opposite -- censoring one's thoughts -- most of one's life.

I'm no doctor... but it sounds to me like you're probably anxious especially if you are worried about contracting a serious illness. Check out this website for anxiety symptoms and see if you have a lot of them:
http://www.anxietycentre.com/anxiety-symptoms.shtml

You'll notice that one of the symptoms of anxiety is "fear of developing a serious mental illness"

Pennkid, if you've been diagnosed don't try to convince yourself based on internet websites that it isn't the case. Talk to your doctor if you think it could be something other than schizophrenia or psychosis.

I havent even opened up to my doctor about my psychosis yet. Im convinced that they cant really help me at all. It may just be a delusion but I believe it is true. Every time I say something is wrong or open up or the doctors believe that something is wrong with me, without hesitation the doctors automatically put me on medication. This was the case a few years ago when I had bad depression.

At this time, Im against medication. Im not sure if I will ever take any again unless I get really bad. Right now Im not doing too bad so I dont believe I need it right now, Im trying to fight all of this on my own.

That's all they seem to know. A psychologist might not do that.

Well, thats what I meant. Whether its a normal doctor, psychiatrist, psychologist, counselor, Ive been to all of them and they all wanted to automatically put me on medication. Ive also been to all those and different kinds, the psychiatrist kept switching my medication without hesitation if the last didnt seem to work.

So...I dont think Im going back there. Im just trying to fight this on my own right now. I havent been doing too bad lately. But the thing is, one minute I might feel fine (comparatively) like everything might work out and be okay, and a little while later Ill feel like Im dying or start feeling real sick and then my mind starts racing then sometimes leads to a psychotic episode. I have episodes of moderate depression too, and anxiety is always there. My mood is so unpredictable right now, so many mood swings. I remember one time I came on here and said I was doing fine and then not more than an hour later I felt really horrible. I dont know what this is. Right now Im not doing bad, but that could change in a minute.

Hate to say it, but if multiple people have suggested the same thing then it might be what's needed. If you are struggling then I think you need to find and use every available resource to get stable.

Maybe I do need to be on medication, I dont know. I have had a few moments in the last couple months where I could actually think clearly and it showed me how delusional and how wrong I thought in my normal mind set. The thing is, Im in my normal mind set most the time and I dont notice anything really wrong.

Im thinking about going on medication. But like I said I have been on medication for a long time before and none of it helped at all, actually made it a lot worse in most cases with all the bad side effects.
