Hey Roxyanne

Dont know about online but a good hard copy is " The Dialectical Behaviour Therapy Skills Work Book" Matthew McKay, Jeffrey C Wood, PSY.D, Jeffrey Brantley MD - New Harbinger Publications

Covers mindfulness really well and has a section on mindfulness and meditation too.

Really good read.
Thanks for this!

Try reading Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat-Zinn. it's the book that kind of sparked the whole mindfullness movement in the west. He also has a series of guided meditation CD's called mindfullness for beginners that's pretty good. I got the book adn CD's off Amazon.

I really like mindfullness meditation. I learned a lot about it when I was IP and also when I was in rehab.

I once knew of a site that had a free meditation/guided imagery that was really great, but they no longer offer it.

I have purchased from this site. My former psychologist loaned me tapes to try and I liked them. My favorite is a relaxation CD called "Warm and Heavy". It has 2 exercises, one called "Warm" and the other called "Heavy". Both include deep breathing and both are very relaxing. I have other CD's from the site that I like too. The site is: www.wholeperson.com.

Another site that offers many guided imagery and meditation CD's is www.healthjourneys.com

Thanks for this!

i havent read any of the above although i believe it will help many (imposter's usually do not last)

for me, i learned about meditation years ago in the self help section of my local used book store.. along with it came my introduction to Buddhist and Eastern Medicine practices like acupuncture, acupressure, chakra healing, etc...

i began to meditate in earnest about 12 years ago... since then my ability to self control my thoughts and moods with meditation has increased and i am a much calmer person with more focus than years past...

someone here (Spiritual Emergency) led me towards the practice of Tonglen, a world healing meditation which i now do on a regular basis, adapted to my personal way of relaxing and centering (in relation to mandala sciences)... here's a link:

http://www.shambhala.org/teachers/pema/tonglen1.php

http://www.abgoodwin.com/mandala/links/science.html

if you are a beginner, here is a short bit of info that might help:

http://www.neoperspectives.com/beginning_meditation.htm

using imagery, symbolism, art therapy, and meditation has helped me to overcome my existential depressive symptoms and allowed me to find meaning in a chaotic world, but it may not be for everyone.. hope this helps

I recommend The Mindful Way Through Depression. At amazon it is selling for a little over $10 plus it comes with a CD of guided meditations. A great investment ~ Shoe

Hi all, there is a type of yoga meditation recomended by my yoga teacher. It's called "yoga nidra". It's a type of deep relaxation, sometimes guided imagry, self awareness. I guess it's sort of like the relaxation done at the end of a yoga class but on a much deeper level. You can log onto youtube and search yoga nidra. Lots of free guided meditations on there. Also you can google yoga nidra cd and you can google just yoga nidra. Some sites will come up explaining what exactly yoga nidra is. There are some cd's that offer a free listen before you buy. I'm looking into buying one to try out. There are also some great blogs on the home page of this site about mindfulness. Best wishes on your journey.

Hugz,
BL
