Of course now that I've finished that, I'm stressed about all the food that's rotting in my garden and the disaster that is my house and paperwork and homework and travel etc etc. How is it already 9 PM? I have been in front of the computer for almost 4 hours?

Ok, I'm really hoping but I just have to ask....you're only using the cat pee thing as an analogy....right?

I'm thinking of hiring a college student to come help me do the paperwork (with the fictitious expendable piles of cash I have tucked under my bed, of course). I wonder what they'd charge?

Nope, the house smelled like cat pee. I only have two cats, three boxes, and they get scooped out daily, but apparently that's not enough...

My boyfriend scoops ours, very frequently, but it still smells. I changed litter brands last year and thought I'd fixed it... it might be time to toss out a box or two!

I have one cat and his box can get stinky, even with daily scooping.

This helps: Use a cat litter with carbon. It does make a difference!

Once a month, bleach out the litter box and wash.rinse completely so you don't poison your cat. I put my cat's box in the tub and run the shower, soak in bleach/water.

Also, if your cat's box is very old most likely it has tons of small scratches in the plastic that trap bacteria. If so, toss it and buy a new one.

I've promised my husband that I would start a routine of decluttering and cleaning for 90 minutes a day so that we can move next year. Not wait until the last minute kind of thing but I've been finding it so hard to get motivated lately. I hope that I can do it.

I've let almost 2 years of unopened mail build up. I've got boxes: thank God for 1) automatic bill-pay and 2) the demise of debtor's prison or I'd be up-the-proverbial-creek.

Not to mention all my little "projects" that I bought the supplies for.....and then never got around to doing.

I'm just trying to keep the place clean now and pick away at the buildup a very little bit each weekend until I get my diagnosis and meds. I can't do more than that otherwise. I either get so frustrated I want to scream or so overwhelmed that my motivation takes a powder and I bury myself in youtube videos.

I can only do the best that I can - and right now - it is what it is.

FWIW, we have the cleanest (read: vacuum so many times I'm shocked there's any fibers left on the floor) carpet this side of creation.

Growly cat, I think you hit the nail on the head re: small scratches. I've been making my own litter boxes out of the large plastic tubs because one of the cats likes to perch on the edge and go on the floor - the tubs have large sides so she can't do this, but I think they don't last as long as a normal box. I will have to look into the carbon litter.

Blue-eyed Mama, 90 minutes a day is a lot, so I can really see why you would be unmotivated to start. Would it be possible to take a baby step of just 15 minutes in the morning and 15 at night? I am having a hard enough time just with that, personally.

Lavendersage, I also do the buy supplies/don't finish projects thing. I've gotten much, much, much better about it, but I still find it difficult to let go of some of the unfinished projects - and I have so many seasonal projects but not really enough space (or time) to do all of them.

I'm on here this morning looking for motivation to do something. Pile of clean laundry on the couch to put away. Dishes to do. Food to preserve. Garden to harvest. It's really overwhelming at the moment. I stupidly made plans with multiple people, one meet up after another, when what I really need is a day at home to catch up.

And i must say, it has been a blessing to have this space lovely and uncluttered this past hellacious week while i have been ill.

Yesterday i started cleaning the kitchen. Im not up to 100 pct yet. But i also scrubbed the drainboard, that was pretty cool.

I still hope to get a buckload of work done this week, the 2nd week of t's vacation..

I cleaned my sink yesterday too! Put away laundry, did most of the dishes. Replanted stuff. I spent most of the day driving from one place to another seeing people and running errands.

Moving to a friends, clearing out a ****load of clothes...too many.

Next my storage unit. I kind of get depressed though as I still do not have a place to call home.
It will come in time...

I cooked! Just some rice, with a frozen bag of mirepoix and a can of mushrooms and some fresh garlic, but still - i was up to HERE with cold food / sammiches. The kitchen is clean, the bathroom is almost clean - feeling pretty good. The rest of the house is still a disaster and i still have to do laundry, but it is improving overall, rather than getting worse. Its like losing 2 lbs when youre 100 lbs overweight - at least youre headed in the right direction.

Yay to progress and cooking! I've cleaned out the hall and am working my way into the kitchen. The idea is that I can get this picked up enough to have people over tonight, but that's pretty doubtful.

We actually *were* able to have people over last night. It's pretty neat - the place is still cluttered, but it's pretty clean at the moment. I wonder how long we can keep it this way?!

Thats fantastic!!!

My t actually said he WOULD come over to see my place if i ever cleaned it. I dont know who's zoomin' who!!

Kitchen and bath are clean, and i have 2 loads of laundry in. The laundry room however is hotter than h-e-double hockey sticks, so i will have to fold laundry in my apartment. But i do have a little clean space to do it in, so :winner

Eta - 3 loads washed & dried; healthy bkfast & lunch, and now its naptime!:

I live with my 22 year old son. Keeping the house clean is difficult because he just won't bend to my will!!!!!

I don't KNOW that things would be any better if I lived by myself, but it's really irritating that when I DO clean the entire house, how he'll just leave stuff all over. Or that I have to TELL him to do something otherwise it doesn't get done.

Saw the title of the thread and instantly thought of flylady, but even working that in is hard b/c I have to live around someone else. I've thought it might be nice to get an RV and just live alone.

Hankster, there's nothing like company for cleaning! The house is getting kinda trashed again, but I think if we picked it up tonight, it would be okay. I have some laundry to fold on my couch and I think more in the machine downstairs...

Growlycat, I hope you were able to clean your fridge. I need to do mine too, but it's not going to happen this week.

YMIHere, I have the same thoughts about living with someone. Flylady is just too much for me - it always feels like a full time job when I try it. It really works for a lot of people, but it just made me feel overwhelmed.

Kind of annoyed with myself at the moment because I can't tear myself away from surfing the net and I have a ton of stuff I need to get done.

Thanks for asking!! I mopped the kitchen floor but I still need to tackle the fridge. I agree that there is no motivation quite like having company over!!

Didnt do a lot over the weekend - mostly just tried to stick to my diet. But today i did two fairly major things - finally put away my amazon deliveries (gf bread, canned fish, rice noodle soup, coffee, etc) and broke down the boxes for recycling, and washed the dishes.

Before i went grocery shopping friday, or actually in the store, sitting down and drinking some iced tea, i took my grocery list which was really just replenishing last week's major shop and planned out some meals. That has been helpful this week in choosing what to eat. I do a protein at each meal, and at least one animal protein per day. I also bought some chocolate vita-tops, the 50-calorie size. I have been having one a day. So far so good!.
