Still has a whole. It's metal but the cheapest tub available in the mid 1970's. The whole is up by the overflow drain so we are working hard on keeping that area dry. Because the tub is original to the house it looks like it was placed before some of the framing. It really isn't going to be pretty and we may have to cut the tub to get it out of the bathroom door way. We have found a tub and surround that will do I think it's fiberglass (oh we never checked to see if it would go though the door) may be getting a wider door. The thing is with the holidays coming and all that we just can't do it now. So I guess we will be really careful till spring, that will give us time to figure out just where we will send the son and grandson. He is going to have to book a week off work. Oh and I figured if we are doing the tub we should do the floor. There is tile left over from when I did the kitchen (it was a horrible job, I should never ever tile again... it's his turn to try) I just hope we don't find anything too scary when we do it. At least we will not have to shut off the main water. I made him put in shut off values and a door in the wall after the second time we had to rip out the wall to get to the pipes.

Well that was horribly long winded.

Not long winded at all! Have you thought about filling the hole to close it? Doesn't have to be perfect, right? This is a decent description of how to do one. https://bathrenovationhq.com/service...t-hole-repair/ Something like JBWeld is a good product too. Get help at Lowe's in the paint department where the sealants are.

Once I started keeping them in a bin it was so very much easier to keep them organized and took up less shelf space. I keep things like flour in tupperware so it is a fixed space the container never shrinks. Hope that helps.
I keep all my flours/grains in containers, too... but at the moment I have more grains than I have containers, which complicates things. I don't have any more room for containers, either.

I am not sure what I can do. The primary problem is that there is too much stuff in too small an area. I am trying to do more baking and need to stop going to grocery stores for a while and just use up what I have...

In the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas...I try not to do any grocery shopping. I strive to eat out of the freezer, fridge and pantry. I do this every now and again throughout the year as well.....Amazing how creative we can be when we limit ourselves.

Will get hubby to check this out his first response wasn't positive but it looks a little easier than taking out the tub. Only thing is I wouldn't get my new floor, we have tile left over from my ill fated try. Figured if we are doing it we might as well DO it

Well if we were closer I would lend you some. I know people who keep flour and such in the freezer, if they can't get it into containers right away. As a bonus it is cheaper to freeze almost anything but air.

I'm having a similar problem too much stuff in too small a house. We got a new pot and so far it lives on the stove. The pot cupboard has a pull out thing which looks pretty but takes up too much room. So I'm going to have to find a different spot. I really hate rearranging the cupboards.

Actually cleaned off the top of the frig today. My son and hubby keep putting stuff up there. They just stuff it up there to get it out of the way and then it is never seen again. I now have bins up there big ones for hubby and son. Small one for me. It is so very nice knowing that when I open the freezer door nothing will fall off the frig at me.

It sounds like it's time to update your bathroom since you mentioned mid 70's for the age of the tub. Usually they drape them with a heavy tarp and take a sledgehammer to them. That'll get it into manageable pieces in no time!

On the lead up to Christmas we ramp up grocery shopping. We usually have 2 extra but some times as many as 5 extra. If my god son is among the extra then I really have lots. It's crazy how much that boy can eat. I usually add a ham to my turkey dinner if he is around. I know his mother feeds him.

Hubby use to be military so before a posting you stopped buying and just cooked what you had. You actually have to think about it when your not moving regularly. Still can't believe we have been here this long it is the longest I have ever lived in one spot.

Lol htoun...teenage boys are indeed like 'Combine Harvesters'

The reason I 'graze' for several weeks before Christmas is so I have space for Xmas Goodies...usually stock up a week before the Christmas Break.

I cleaned out my pantry. It actually wasn't that bad once I reorganized everything. If I can just stop piling stuff precariously instead of putting it away properly, maybe it will stay okay. I bought some more half gallon jars for my grains, too.

But, yeah, the primary problem is just too much stuff for the space.

Yeah it's time. My biggest worry is finding things that need to be fixed adding to the time and cost. Last owner could have won on the show "Canadians Worst Handyman". When removing the wall paper that was every where found a whole he covered by stapling a cereal box over then re wall papering. Most things were fixed with wall paper or hot glue.

I think whoever lived in your house lived in mine. They glued laminate flooring over wood floors without adding a subfloor, used what looks like cement to patch plaster. It's interesting to see how people 'fix' things, whoever lives in my house next may have some surprises as well!

Do you have netflicks or lots of dvd's to watch. Just remember no comedies it hurts to laugh after abdominal surgery.

Hope your feeling better soon.

I'm watching all kinds of stuff! I may even read a book! I'm 9 days post op and just starting to feel decent again. I just hate seeing all these things that could be done but I can't lift more than 16 oz right now.

It must be frustrating for you to be so limited in activity right now. I would be in bed curled up and crying because I'm very intolerant to pain. I do hope you're on a pain reliever to help you out. Though I've heard that people can get horribly addicted to them, so be careful.

Not that I am implying that you are prone to substance abuse, just that pain killer addiction can happen to anyone.

How old is the grandson?

I'm doing well, thanks for asking! Got my staples out today, boy that smarted!! I can drive when I want and out of work for 6 more weeks. I'm really sore tonight though. I tensed my abdominal muscles a lot while in the car to the doc's office and back. Urban traffic and lots of pot holes. I had forgotten how much we use out abdominals in a car!

I've done a lot of cleaning and reorganizing of my desk. Slowly but it looks so much better!

I have been spending time helping clear out & organize things in my friends house for the auction people to come it & take. Pages for throw away, bags for recycle, & boxes of stuff & a few piles of things I'm taking home.

The good thing is that I'm on a ROLL so it's made it so much easier to go through my own house & organize & throw away & organize. Still have too much to do at home before moving the furniture here but think that has me inspired to work hard at this also. Amazing how sometimes a kick start really helps.

He turned 3 in Oct. He loves buttons and dials. We are now checking the dial regularly now. I had meant clean it just not like that.

Glad to hear your feeling better.

haven't replied to this thread in ages!

Want to have a good tidy up before xmas. Got laundry and a ton of ironing to do as well! Want to buy a nice wipe clean xmas tablecloth and actually clear the clutter off the kitchen table.

Since I'm laid up recuperating from surgery, I've cleaned out a lot of old papers. If nothing else it's "bulk" out of the house and into the recycling bin. I've done some vacuuming today too. Probably not the smartest thing, I may pay for this!
