Hopefully he helps me through some of that.

It took me a long time to fall asleep last night and then I kept waking up with an increasingly sore throat. But then in the morning I woke up before 8AM and was completely OK and was surprised to see almost an hour of deep sleep according to Oura (for me it is a lot) and 6 hrs 32 minutes total sleep. Not bad! And I am alert and working and my throat no longer hurts. I will wfh though and f I need a nap later, I hope it will be short (like yesterday). In the evening I will go to another treadmill class at orangetheory, and will work more when I return home.

I had a good day! Needed a nap but a short time in bed (relatively short: 50 minutes) was enough. Not a long time ago I was taking 2-3 hour naps.

After the nap I went to Orangetheory fitness and did a treadmill HIIT workout.

I am going to bed now, at 10:22 PM. Good night!

I had a good day. Unbelievably, I did not need a nap. I was up before 7AM. I actually went to Orangetheory and did a HIIT and strength workout at 8:15AM! I then took a shower, stopped by a coffee shop for breakfast and my favorite cardamom latte, and then went to see my doctor (pdoc+T). He was very happy to hear that I am doing better, not having hunger pangs and not needing as much sleep. I told him that I probably would take a short nap afterwards just in case. Then after the appointment I drove home (about 30 minutes) while talking to my friend from Berlin. Once home, I realized that I was not sleepy at all and decided to go to the relaxing yoga class. I thought that if I got sleepier later, it would be OK because the yoga would be relaxing. Guess what, the gentleman next to me fell asleep during the long sound bath but I did not! I enjoyed the relaxation without falling asleep. It was amazing.

Later I was able to do some work and then had dinner (meat and orange juice, to help iron absorption by adding vitamin C) and now am going to bed. I am tired in a good way.

I am just so afraid to jinx it.

Oura registered 6 hrs 11 minus of net sleep last night. Let us see what tomorrow brings. Tomorrow my schedule is such that I won't have time to nap, so I hope I will just keep going.

10:21 PM night-night

I’ve been trying to sleep properly too, but I stay up too late on saturdays.

all the sleep hygiene advice consistently preaches that you should not change your schedule from weekdays to weekends, but Oura actually gives you some leeaway, only asking that you not deviate from your weekday schedule by more than an hour on weekends.

Hey there! Looks like everybody has been getting good sleep. I have some bad news to report though. The past two nights have been really rough. For the second time in a row I've woken up at 2:30am wide awake. (I went to bed around 11pm). So that's about three hours straight sleep and then I'm wide awake. I have no idea what it means, but I know it's not good.

Last night I went to my living room and put on The Mummy and fell in and out of sleep till about 10am. That's no good at all. Tonight I just decided to stay up on the computer. I have to be up for church in a few hours, so I don't know how I am going to be.

Sigh.

Sigh. I also woke up too early this morning and then decided that I should try to sleep more. I put on a familiar audiobook and started dreaming content related to the story, so I know I must have been dreaming even though I recall listening. It is as if I did both which was really unusual. Ultimately got up after 8am and Oura registered 7 hrs 16 mins of total sleep with a lot of REM, confirming my subjective experience. I hope this will be enough for a long day without a nap today - I need it.

Talk later! I hope your time in church goes well.

It sounds like you're admonishing yourself, @LadyShadow, but please don't -- it could worsen the situation!

I wake up wide awake two or three times almost every night. Today, I was especially wide awake at 5am. I suppose I could've gotten up then to feed the ravenous cats; if we were in Daylight Savings TIme, the time would've been 6am, and it would've been a good time to get up anyway.

But I guess my favorite thing in the world to do is to lie in bed, so I alternated between box breathing and breath counting meditation and fell back to sleep before I knew it. I woke up again at about 7:15, which was as late as I can go.

The "audio book dreaming" sounds like it might have been a hypnogogic effect. I wonder how the Oura ring can distinguish among the sleep cycles and if it can pick out hypnagogia.

Anyway I hope you get through the day with ample energy and wakefulness!

So my update is simply that I've been getting to bed / sleep before 10:30pm every night since my previous update, and the CPAP machine reports at least 8 hours of use every day. But as I wrote to LadyShadow, I've been waking up frequently.

One night's waking was particularly memorable. I was dreaming that I was walking a long distance in some city while carrying a heavy object as one would carry a full basket of laundry. As I walked, I kept telling myself that I should've parked closer. But then I reasoned that I could do this -- it's good exercise. I was getting out of breath when I woke up. That, BTW, is a classic type of sleep apnea dream -- I really was out of breath because I wasn't breathing!

Well I sure messed up last night. Usually I go to bed around midnight but last night while I was watching lost in space I picked up my new Readers digest and before I knew it it was 3 am! So very very late for bed. I did my usual reading in bed to keep the routine going, got up only an hour later than normal. I’m hoping tonight I can sleep on time as I need to get to the library by 10am to get tech help.

On a separate issue though I know I’m dreaming I’m not remembering them. That makes me sad as I love my dreams. I have a brief recollection of games from last night. I wonder about writing down dreams first thing in the morning again to help the remembering. Even scary dreams are fascinating to me. I miss being able to recall them. I’m wondering if that’s part of the process of aging?

I had a good day. I went to a long performance and yes, there were a couple of times during the performance when my eyes closed without me wanting to close them, but overall I was awake and able to enjoy the show. And, 4 train rides total round trip, with a friend, and I was not sleepy at all, even though being on a train can make one sleepy. So it was good. This is the second day in a row without naps!!

I will definitely look up hypnagogia!

I did not know anything about sleep apnea dreams before.

My sleep psychologist told me that dreams need to be recorded immediately when you wake up from the dream. Otherwise they quickly fade in your memory. I am just too lazy to do it. I still recall some especially memorable dreams but not as nearly as many as I would like.

Next time I see her, I will ask why dreams fade away from memory so quickly. Maybe she knows.

My sickness came back with a vengeance. I cannot talk. I did not use the CPAP in early morning because I was congested. I took it off. Then later I took a long nap while wearing the CPAP. I believe anemia has weakened my immunity. Now I am getting ready to go to bed again Tomorrow will be another day.

I have been up since 7am. I did not need a nap! I even went to the gym in the evening for low intensity exercise which was all I was capable of doing since I still have a cold. It has been over 10 days with this cold. I wore a mask at the gym.

Tomorrow I need to get up at 7 again.

I made my bed this morning and now am looking forward to opening the straightened out covers.

I need to pour distilled water, take nighttime beds, and go to bed. It will probably be 10:50pm when I do.
