i started self harm a while ago, and only my friend knows, but recently ive been getting worse. It used to just be slight scratches, but now im going deeper. i really dont know what to do and i dont have a councellor and the only one in my area is only open on weekdays when i am in school and i cant afford to take days off and i even tried getting rid of the item i used but i found a substitue item. I really don't know what to do.

I'm so sorry your feelin so bad. I self harm an have done so since i was 9, i'm now 25 but thats because i've only jus started to get proper help for my problems. You need to go and talk to your doctor! Pls do this. Is there any particular reason why you feel so down that you have to do this? I hope you can get some help for your problems. Take care an remember you are not alone here! :-)

SI can become a bit of an addiction...... you ahve to do more to satisfy the urges as time goes on.... thats how it wss for me
read the stickies at the top of the page and it will give you some ideas on how not to ..... as suggested - see your dr - they can help if your cutting is due to anxiety meds can help the first thing is to work out why you cut the second it to try and remove or find ways to cope wiht the tirggers there is hope - recovery cna be made talk here as often as you need to - we are listening.. thank you, my friend has told me its an addiction to, and that i should go and meet her counsellor, but im afraid incase they tell my mum, because she will feel like its her fault. Are they aloud to tell the parents if its a teenager?

Therapy is a must for stopping SI. I hope that you can work something out. If you call a therapist they might work with you. You never know unless you ask..........

Is it possible your school has a counselor that you can see?
i agree with the others - it is really important to get help, esp. since you notice it is getting worse. Try to do whatever it takes, ok? - you are worth it. ![]() |

Hey niamhh, I'm new here too. I have actually cut before too; it was a few years ago. It was never deep cutting and it didn't last a crazy long time, but I did get scars. I'm sorry you're feeling so bad, and all we can do is offer our support.
![]() Not even my friends knew about my cutting. The only reason I stopped is because my mom saw my scars one day. It hurt like hell for my mom to see me in that state of mind, but it opened my eyes to those who actually do pay attention. Like we are to you. ![]() ![]() You said your friend knows; how is she handling it? What is her opinion? Is she a source of comfort for you? Those things might be important. Having someone to lean on is key. A doctor or T can help, but only so much. Not sure if you feel comfortable enough to go to your friend, but seeking help can only do that -- help! my friend is always helping me, she understood imediatly and was glad i told her. I had a realy bad day today but i was in the cinema and my friend noticed how i was feeling and asked if i wanted to go walk on our own. Im still pretty down but she said she would stay with me tonight which is the only reason im not SI at the moment.
