Hi, i'm fairly new here and haven't ever replied to anyone before but your posts really touched me. I think you're amazing, you have so many pressures to deal with on top of your depression but you always fight through each day to give as much as you can. I wish everyone was more like you and the others on this board!
When reading your posts, something jumps out at me. I always find it hard to describe this quality when I see it in people but it is like a innocent kindness. Most people learn kindness, what is right and wrong but for you (and the one other person who i see this quality in, my sister) it seems to be an innate emotion. Unfortunetly, i think this quality means you hurt more deeply than most but it also means you have a deeper empathy and understanding than most too - a deeper kindness. When i read your posts i see all this love inside you spilling out onto the pages, as you help others even though you are in the depths of dispair. And that inspires me. So please know that even though the dark cloak of depression is surronding, and seems to be consuming you, your inner child, your inner light is shining just as bright. It is shining through all that darkness, showing everyone the real you - a caring, loving person. I know everyone here will agree with this, and i hope that in time you will finally allow yourself to see it too. Your inner child is strong - it is surviving despite the depressions best attempts to defeat it. And i know that one day, it will defeat the depression! Until then, keep believing in yourself. Abby, thank you for what you wrote. To say it made me think would be an understatement. Maybe this innate quality you see explains why everyone at work always comes to me to talk about things.........I never seek them out, but they come to me instead of my supervisor.
I hope you're right - it feels like the inner me is barricaded in a windowless, airless room and is slowly dying. I can't help her because I don't have the key. I appreciate your response more than you know. Thank you again. Mary Alice ![]() ![]() |

I'm glad it made you think. I think it is the reason why most people come to you with their problems. I know i went to my sister needing help because there is something about her that's....genuine. I didn't want to put all my problems onto her because she was having a hard time at the time but she was the only one that i thought would understand everything. Not only in the simple understanding sense but through the deep thoughtful kindness that she seems to possess (even though it sometimes seems to be hidden by her own hurt). There is some kind of connection that by-passes all hurt and fear - and i can see you have it. I hope you can see how valuable you are, because there are not many people around that have that special quality.

{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Abby}}}}}}}}}}}}}} Thank you so much for sharing your feelings with Mary Alice. You are so right! If she would only believe that the "real her" is beautiful! The depression isn't "her."
You are also very special for sensing that quality in her. No doubt you have the same quality and haven't recognized it yet. ![]() <font color=blue>"The winds of change continue rolling and they just carry me away."</font color=blue>

Abby is right. I've seen the same things all along, but Abby found the right words for it. Both of you are very special.
