I don't know if this is triggering or not so I put the symbol just in case. I've been trying to make myself work out. Body image is a big deal with me and I quit all physical excersize about 5 months ago. Going 5 months without working out or even doing yoga is a long time for me. Finally today I thought I couldn't go to the gym and see all the other people but I could put in an aerobics video and that at home all by myself. But before I could do that I had to cut myself, not bad just once. Then I could work out, it was like I had to balance the thought of doing something very positive and healthy with something negative. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yeah, I relate to that. I find it hard to get much or any exercise done through the winter, and sometimes overdo it in the summer. I don't have to cut myself, but I push myself too far with the Yoga. I love my flexibility video, because I can feel those muscles for days after doing it.
Have you thought about why you need to punish yourself in association with doing something good for yourself?

Well, that's a good question, the important one I know. I don't know the answer, but I'll try to work through it. I'm guessing it is somewhat common, so I'd be interested to hear what other people have discovered. |
