It's been 8 weeks now, so I guess Im doing well, for me anyway. But what I have been wondering is when I can say I am 'recovering' from it rather than saying straight that I self-injure??

I know its only been two months, though its the longest Ive gone without it for a while, I feel its too early to say that Im recovering from it, more like Im 'trying to recover'. Yeah, i think Im hovering around that area somewhere.

So when can you think of yourself as recovering from it? what does it actually mean?

I think Im scared to call myself that because its too early for it, Im not entirely safe... alsost like Im expecting a relapse anytime soon?

Any thoughts?

You are recovering though, if you're doing better than you usually do. Every person is different. I used to cut at least twice a week, now I cut every two weeks - there is still a long way to go, but I am improving. I feel that I am recovering. Ultimately I think its just important to recognize that you are doing BETTER, even if you're not exactly where you want to be. I'd be proud if I were you. Just keep on doing what you're doing. If you honestly feel like you're handling things better, don't worry too much about a relapse... sometimes they happen, but regardless, you're doing the right thing.

I think recovery is the point when you realize that you want to stop doing the bad things you do, and you are committed to stop and make yourself better.
