I find when I cut on my legs they always turn purple and stay there for at least a year. My arms are a different story. The scars usally heal and fade to nothing within a month. I don't cut deep. About as deep as a really good cat scratch. One where the cat was rather angry. I find it interesting that the depth is the same on the legs and arms but the time and coloration are so vastly different.

Yeah my scars on my legs take ages to heal as well.

I think it's something to do with the fact that our arm's are exposed to air more often than our legs?? Im not sure though.

That is interesting, Carrie. And hey, it's good to have you back! I was wondering about you just yesterday! I generally cut like you do. I think most cutters do, actually. Most of my cuts don't even scar, but some do. However, the last few incidents have gotten a bit out of hand and I have purple on my arm and leg now. And it doesn't appear to be going away any time soon question about scars (may trigger) I am hoping these cuts are the last, and I think they are, actually. But I'm really unhappy about having to deal with the aftermath, ya know?

About keloids, everyone... My mom is a nurse and I asked her about keloids yesterday. I knew she knew a lot about them because my sister and dad make keloids. Here's the deal. A scar that is pink or purple and even raised a little bit is NOT a keloid. A keloid is a much more disfigured-looking scar. It can have a consistency kind of like a rope. It's bumpy and weird-shaped. Keloids can SOFTEN, but they never fade and they never go away. A raised purple scar on the other hand can fade and turn into a white line, although this can take some time.

Angela, I was looking for the answer to your recent post when I came across this one. I had not seen this one before.

I have scars from almost 5 years ago that are still very dark. I hate them as its impossible to hide as they are on my arms and wrists. They have lightened but not like some of them. Sorry, I am sure this is not what you wanted to hear, but I can relate.

So how are they now??

Justy-still searching for the other post about pain in your scars....

ive got a rather nasty scar on my arm, its rasied and purple.. about 4 or 5 months old now, and the last month or so i have noticed it is slowly turning white from the ends inover, and is very itchy! its maybe only 2/3 the original size that is really visible now, the areas that have gone white are hardly noticable. hopefully given a bit longer it will all be white? hope yours goes the same way too. (just not over so many months!)

I am so sorry Angela for saying what I did. I was just answering honestly. But yes, mine went down in size just not the color.

I really hope and pray that I did not upset you. I feel like a real poo head. You can kick my arssss.

Hope you are feeling better today Angela. How is your pain??
