Check your settings and see if you are set to no-mail or something like that too. Yeah, keep trying because it's worth it and sounds like the things she addresses are exactly what you're struggling with.

I'm not Midwestern, but my dad is an immigrant from Norway, so we probably have quite a bit of culture in common. I think it would be fun to spend some time in the Midwest.

My paternal grandfather is a Norwegian immigrant too. Cool. I can say I've never tried lutefisk. Lefse's not too bad though.

Where I live now, it's all Belgian's. TOTAL culture shock. Language is different and even holidays are celebrated differently, and it's only 125 miles north of where I grew up.

I'll definitely re-do the flylady thing. I looked around her site and, you're right, I think it will be a big help. Although I' m not too sure about that whole sink polishing thing.

I haven't tried lutefisk either, and my family really didn't do lefse, although I tried some when I went to Norway last summer and it was delicious. What I'm trying to find is gjetost. I can make it (I even have a goat in milk currently), but it takes so long and my time is so limited lately, and mine isn't as good as what they sell in the store.

I don't know much at all about the Belgian culture. That would be different.

Nobody's sure about shining the sink before they do it. Think it of it like an initiation rite, and once it's done, it will be motivating. I go back and do that again when I need to re-set my gears and start over. Right now my kitchen sink doesn't work and we have to use the laundry room sink, and it's really hard to keep that looking nice let alone shiny, so it's a challenge.

My mom used to always make this hot pudding-y stuff for my dad, and until I bought this book I never knew it's an actual Norwegian dish. It's called Rommegrot. It's boiled cream, flour, and salt, topped with butter and sprinkled with salt and sugar.

That was really interesting to find out.

Do I haaaaaaaaaave to shine the sink? First I have to get all of the dishes out of it. (I thought the idea of the tub under the sink for the dirty dishes was a good one).

I made Rommegrot once.

Yup, get busy and shine your sink! She didn't say you have to wash the dishes. Just take them out and make the sink shiny. You'll see. Shiny sinks are contageous to the rest of the house. Honest.
