I lost a lot of weight about 3 years ago, after a lifetime of obesity. At the time, I didn't realize how thin I was. I still saw myself as overweight. In the years since, I gained all the weight back through bad habits.

I looked at my old photos, from when I'd lost weight, and I was shocked by how thin I really was. I miss that. I feel very sad that I let myself get back to this point, after I looked so good then. I know I need to get back on the diet and work on bettering myself. I just feel so bad about myself now. I had no idea how good I actually looked then.

Has anyone else gone thru this?

You should not feel bad about yourself. Very few people are able to keep being thin after a lifetime of obesity. It is possible, but you need a lot of luck for it - few people succeed. Post the pictures everywhere, post them online if you have online albums - nobody needs to know that they are not current - etc. But do not beat yourself up and do not go on any strict diets, because all of them are dangerous and counter-productive in the long run.

Dear Lioness,

I would agree for someone who has been overweight most of thier life it would be very difficult to remain thin. Alot has to our genes/ habits/ enviorment/ mental and emotional issues ect.....

You are the same person nomatter weight, how you feel on the inside is what matters. I would say stop the negative thinking of guilt and blame, this slows down your metabolism. Stress tells our body to hold onto X cells.

Lifestyle changes and working on good self esteem will go far. Dont concentrate on the scale number. I dont have one, never had, and I get weighed at dr. office.

I am overweight, thin most of my life untill a failed neck surgery which gave me alot of medical issues over 10 years ago. I am 40 years old and I like myself with the extra weight, I feel like a woman!!

I also like being a little big as it does make me feel sexier than being skinny. After I had my son I gained 40 pounds I've never been able to lose, but for some reason it really doesn't bother me all that much. I do look big from the back, but even still, a lot of men like bigger women anyway, not that I even care as I am married but want to look good for my husband. I really don't even know who would think being too unhealthy skinny would like it that way. Some of us are big from having children, bad diets that can always be changed if we try to lose just a bit of weight. I don't see anything bad about someone being a little overweight, in fact I'm a woman and I like the way I look, even though I probably shouldn't. I would feel bad if i gained any more weight as I would think i was too big, but I would try to do something about it like a diet or cut out sugar.

i gained alot of weight in the military. sound weird ud think ud lose weight in the military but it was the opposite for me. anyways i had gained about 50 pound and didnt start losing it until recently. the good thing about ur weights is it can change. i know its hard to get back into shape but its doable and that gives me hope. but i found out like many things u cant do it if u push urself. u have to really want it. thats just my opinion.
