Hi ladies. Welp. I am firmly in the middle of menopause and it is seriously bad. The hot flashes are intense and I'm having several a day. The night sweats have started and my 'normal' anxiety level is much worse. Plus the libido has left the building, it is just gone.

This is all happening as my partner has gone off her medication (she is Bipolar2) and her libido is has come back with a roar. Her own menopause is over.

Any suggestions for coping with all this are welcome. "/

i am sorry to hear you are struggling so much. i hope this isnt something i have to look forward to. it has been almost two years for me and so far i havent experienced any symptoms. i have heard a lot about something which i cant clearly remember now...i know that doesnt help a lot...lol...but i have like yam cream? from the natural food store that you rub on your skin daily they would know if you went in and asked what they have to address menopause. when i was in massage school my teacher used to talk about it all the time. it has some of the chemicals that your body is losing now that you are no longer producing as much estrogen.

Have you considered Hormone Replacement Therapy? It's not for everyone but sure helps a lot of people. I was on it when I began to go through menopause and it was a God send. However, I developed breast cancer (not related to the hormones but they took me off of them anyway). So I had to go through all the hot flashes and night sweats while going through chemo. It was a nightmare, so I understand how bad it can be. So if you don't have a history of breast cancer it is one option.

Thanks for your responses.

The yam cream sounds interesting, I'll have to look that up. I have looked into bio-identical hormone replacement which is a natural plant based therapy. I know a few people who speak very highly of it. Luckily I live within blocks of a compound pharmacy who can do it too. The drawback though is that the preliminary testing is very expensive. Every time I make a plan to get started it seems that the house or one of the pets needs that money. I hope to soon though. I need to do something because I am sure getting tired of this and it really makes my anxiety barely manageable.

I had just been dealing with a few years of anorexia right before menopause hit & it hit at the time I left my H after 33 years of a bad marriage & I had moved from Calif (dry desert heat) 2100 miles away to hot humid KY heat. Hadn't had a period for years so I thought that the sweats were JUST the new hot humidity I was living it. Only lasted on & off for about a year. I was so busy taking care of my farm that I didn't have that much time to think about what my body was dealing with so it was over with before I really ever knew it started.

Only time I get similar sweats now is when I'm running a temp & it breaks or right after my oral surgery 2 weeks ago, every time I would lay down to sleep I would wake up ringing wet....guess my body was trying to heal...don't think I was running a temp but couldn't put anything in my mouth to take my temp anyway......when I really get exhausted after the surgery & crash in bed, I find my body ends up reacting the same way that it did during menopause but not the rest of the time.....

Definitely NOT fun because I always end up feeling like the only thing I can do is take a hot shower in the middle of the night to stop the chills from sweating so bad. Just glad menopause is over even though I barely knew it was there in the first place.

Sorry to hear you ladies are going through this. I haven't had my period in about a year. No hot flashes or anything. My libido is just about zilch though, but I'm also suffering from depression right now so that could have something to do with it.

I had my last period last June, and have been having awful hot flashes many times all day and all night. Also severe anxiety and depression off and on. I tend to be depressed anyway, but I thing the anxiety is due to the menopause. No advice, but I know how you feel!

I had one period in July then one in November and two in January so clearly I am in menopause plus my gyn says my fibroid (huge) shrunk?

But my sex drive is not only didn't get lower it is way higher than up there. And no I am not manic. I am not like want sex all the time in general but am very easily turned on by a man I am seeing. Like my libido is not lower but higher. Isn't it suppose to get lower?

My mood is rather low lately and I am anxious but i under a lot of stress so if is nothing to do with menopause.

So I have hot flashes and my periods are nearly gone but no other symptoms? Yet? Would appear later?

divine1966 the libido can get higher in some women. Mine is definitely higher when I'm not depressed.
