Maybe stop trying to find a job and make a job for yourself. I don't know anything about you, but here are some possibilities:
painter
handyman
home health care
babysitter
personal driver
mobile dog groomer
car detailer
window washer
You can get cards printed really cheap from Vista Print. Just a thought. Good luck to you!

I don't know you well enough to know what you have and haven't done. I have talked to quite a few people and some of them truly are doing all they can to find a job but others don't seem to be taking advantage of the services available to them. Of course I don't know what is available in every state but in the places I have lived the do offer free things like job hunting and interviewing skills. They might have job postings. These companies are generally friendly to people that have looking and we are not talking mcdonalds either. The federal govt offers some money for retraining in another field. I took advantage of this years ago to finish my last year of college. Also, the library should have a copy of "what color is your parachute" which I assume is still updated yearly.

I know what it is like to be frustrated looking. It's hard to be motivated but maybe at least one or two of these ideas will help.

I think I have lost all hope. I just want a job where they treat you like a human being and compensate you fairly for hard work. But it seems they all want to exploit employees to squeeze every last drop of blood, sweat and tears out of them. I was called back for an interview with Frito-Lay as a merchandiser. Then I read reviews about the job. You use your own car, phone etc..., get to the first store by 4 or 5am, work 10-12 hrs a day (no OT) with little time for lunch or breaks, work all holidays, work every weekend and are basically on-call for whenever they need you to fill in. Days off are "frowned upon". You have no personal life. All for the privilege of a job and $15/hr. Why do we need to sacrifice our mind, body and spirit to barely scrape by? It seems to be very similar everywhere now days.

I couldn't get a job either. Turns out no one wants to employ someone who's failed maths four times. So, now I'm back in full time education, trying my hardest to pass maths at the same time as earning an employability thing to put on my CV.

Yes I am tired of this too but in a completely different way. I am working to have an independent career but I can't do it yet and it will involve being creative about having several sources of incomes. And it will also be a major cut but I think it will be worth it.

One additional piece of advice... If you are going to do a crappy job anyway try to find one where you are working where other people can see your work. I started as a temp admin and within a year was in demand with two departments plus the temp agency offered training for future career. I have also volunteered at nonprofits to get noticed. If you don't have this keep looking while you work. Think of the crappy job as an interview except you are now the interviewer (they don't need to know). It is a pretty radical way to think. Im noticing there are hardly any jobs around. Though I have one (that I dont like) Im always looking. A few years ago there there were many more than now. Also it can be hard to please potential employers. They want alot from potential employees. They can pick and choose. I heard theres approx 30 people for each job advertised in UK. BAADDD!

been there done that. that money to be retrained in another field is still another set of hoops to go through. i went through those programs: workshops after workshops, career counselors, etc i had to do research on 3 different training schools and i was suppose to turn it back in then you gotta wait 4-6 weeks for a yea or nay approval by the state - this isn't free money they are handing out to people to pay for their retraining.

i never went back it is commute takes me 2 freeways to get there and back. however, i was told i could get a scholarship from the women's center to pay for it but i am not in the predicament to do that at the moment.

You spend all this money on going back to school only to end up with another unfulfilling job where profit trumps employee well-being. And non-profit is no savior because they are even more constrained by limited funds. You still have a situation where success is defined by how much you can get done with the least amount of resources. People suffer as a result. Maybe cynicism has taken me over.

Or no job, like me.. I went back to school when I was married 8 years ago. My marriage ended & I couldn't finish school because I was a complete wreck & had to go back to work. I now have 40k of debt I can't pay, no degree, & nothing good enough to put on a resume to get a decent job to get by on. I'm broke, can't pay my student loans (they're threatening me w/ wage garnishment & to take any kind of tax refund I may get), & my credit is ruined. I work a job I despise & I'm drowning financially. Destitute at this point.

I wish I had a real answer to give to the OP. So many people are in this situation & it is a crying shame.

Yeah, it's still kind of tough out there concerning employment opportunities. I am gainfully employed, however, my wife has been out of work for a long time now. She also gets discouraged and, obviously, our budget wouldn't be near as tight. Good luck to all the job seekers out there and those of us also impacted by economical conditions; hopefully things will change for the better soon!

Yeah, I took a crap job just to get back to a professional job. I've worked hard to see it as a stepping stone to a better position. Unfortunately the crap is piling deeper and deeper upon me and I need to get out before it kills me. Luckily because i am employed I am getting responses for my efforts. Hopefully it'll get me somewhere soon.

I experienced the same issue trying to find my first job, but when I got the job, I ended up quitting after two months. I couldn't stand my coworkers and the long hours were throwing me in a panic.

Thankfully, my aunt offers me temp. jobs at the college she works at/I attend. One went really well - worked there two months before the job was over. The other... most recent one, didn't go as well, because I ended up quitting in a day due to... anxiety issues, plus the long hours were throwing me off again.

I feel a little bad sometimes, too, because my younger brother's trying to get a job, since he's got his license and a car, but he hasn't gotten a call back from any of the places he's applied to, yet, and he applied a few months ago.

So yeah, it's tough out there, but what can you do? It's hard.
