I assume it's because the interviewer didn't think I demonstrated their bogus "13 characteristics." They seem to only want to hire people that want (or say they want) to make Chipotle their career. They don't seem to have any tolerance for people like me who are dead broke and just need the money, regardless of whether or not I'm capable of doing the work. They don't like introverts either. Doesn't matter if you're pleasant and hard-working, you have to constantly exhibit ridiculously high energy and positivity. At least in the interviewing process I guess, because no one behind the counter is that extraordinarily chipper.

I hopefully haven't mentioned it before in this thread but have you considered going to a temp agency? I had good luck with that when no one would hire me. I mean sometimes they just need a body because they get paid a commission if you show up. They might make you take a test or something but usually it isn't too bad. |

It seems like most employers want 'energetic' employees with positive attitudes, which is difficult to pull off when depressed and hopeless.
If I was in your situation, I'd enroll in a short program at community college. They often have 9 to 24 month provrams for medical technicians (eg ultrasound tech), which may be in demand depending on the area of the country you live in. You'd get: Job placement Deferrment of student loans Loans to cover living expenses It's been years since I've been in undergraduate college, but I remember I could borrow a good bit above the cost of tuition to pay rent and utilities. You might also be able to get food stamps. Granted, no one needs more student loans but 12 months at a community college wouldn't be too much of a trade off. And once your feeling better and settled, maybe you could finish your degree down the road. The pay seems quite high for that level of education: Accredited Ultrasound Technician Schools in New Jersey ? Ultrasound Technician Good luck to you! |

Sorry it's the feeling of rejection over and over again that can be so hard on the already depressed. I think a short break in applying might help. I went through this also. I still am unemployed. There is a program you can look into though called DVR Developmental Vocational re-employment. Be easy on yourself this is not a normal job market. The UN-emplyment rate goes by how many are receiving UC- Benifits not how many are unemployed it's much higher than what the number shows.
