For what it's worth I don't think you should beat yourself up over this...that only makes things worse. were you careful about it? or did you overdo it? I wont judge I probably drink too much, I admit I am not a straight(as in no drugs or alcohol)type. But I respect peoples choice not to drink and if they slip up and do drink well you know crap happens and I have no right to judge.
Sorry if this didn't help at all I just hate to see people get down on themselves, because I do it all the time and it feels terrible. I mean you drank, doesn't mean you have to start doing it daily, just be careful and if it gets to be to much maybe professional help would be a good idea. Anyways that's my input for whatever it's worth. |

![]() I have drank three times since I quit 65 days ago. First time: 3 beers, second time 4 or 5 while enjoying a lovely bon fire [felt like **** the next day] and Thursday night was like 5-ish and felt like **** the next day. I guess I only feel guilty when I wake up tired, cranky, and no patience for my five year old. Since I am tired/headache all day I snap at her easily and it isn't fair to her. That's part of why I quit. I don't understand how normal people can have a few drinks and go on the next day with no problem. I am sure staying up late and getting up early with her the next day doesn't help my case. The lack of sleep. Is the trick to start drinking earlier. ![]()

Okay. Just sick of being sober? Testing alcoholism? You're still mad about not being able to handle alcohol like "normal people can" ~ is that it? *hugs galore , sitting close & listening* It's the hardest thing you'll ever do, and the best thing you'll ever do for yourself and those you love & who love you. Take a bunch of deep breaths. When you're ready, we will start again ... more slowly ... and get it right. Okay?

![]() Not three days in a row.. the first time was a test to see how I would do, I wasn't really into it but I was trying it out. The next day I was happy that I didn't really enjoy it and looking forward to having a clear-headed sober night and many to follow. The others I guess were more out of habit - drinking wise not deciding to drink but how many I ended up having. ![]() ![]()

lady, some of us don't succeed at our first go(es) of stopping drinking. for me it was being angry i was an alcoholic. like thinking if everyone can drink why shouldn't i? i described it as my having a temper tantrum...i did this more than once. once i resumed drinking in a short while i was drinking like my old ways-abusing alcohol.
some people have a drinking "problem". if they can occasionally drink with no consequences or not counting the number of drinks, they can successfully cut back and be ok. it's like warding off the disease of alcoholism. but i believe if we do have concerns we are probably in the danger zone of being an alcoholic. once we try to stop drinking the alcohol "calls" us to resume drinking and we do. that's when akcohol controls us and we don't control it. justme, there were a myriad of underlying causes for my drinking in the first place. some i wasn't consciously aware of and others i was- like resentments, emotional instability, emotional baggage, those feelings that i knew a drink would take away, etc. my thoughts-get back up on the horse that threw you and try again. it can be well worth the effort. ps your honesty tells me you want to stop. thank you for sharing your experiences recently. that took courage for all the right reasons.

LadyJane- sorry if this is late, seeing so many good things already said but ya know for me atleast with cleaning up from hard drug use for escaping and some more so than just escaping, it took several tries. i can remember atleast five vivid times of i am done with drugs but always fell back until one day i said no more of this life. yeah some claim i still relaps with two things but haven't touched coke, meth, x, lsd, shrooms or unknown things that would get me high
if you were able to do it for over two months you can do it again. oh and yeah i know the feeling of people being so proud and going back, it is a horrible feeling but after time goes on after your ''give it another try'' and years pass i hope you'll find understanding from it all, and reflect and find that you have grown from this spot... it maybe a negative thing now but in the future it can be a very positive thing. hope that makes scense. well wishes to you. |

Thank you beauflow, that was very nice of you.
I have found I love being sober, waking up feeling good, going to bed with a clean head. I have also found that it is possible for me to have a few beers once in a while and the next few nights I have no urges or regrets or anything. I think I am at a spot where 'normal' people are at. I am content with this right now. I have quit drinking every single night and still get to enjoy the summer bon fires once in a while.
