Yesterday my office cleared out at 1:00 but I stayed until after 4:00. A few minutes after 1:00, I got a diet coke out of a fridge with several beers in it. I was back at my desk before it occurred to me that I would have considered that a pretty substantial test a year ago and I didn't even blink. There was literally no one else in my wing of the office, the fridge is just a few doors down and I have a private office. Only a couple of people know I quit drinking and I knew for sure they were both gone. Even thinking all that through just made me smile; I didn't have the slightest urge. That's almost weird; I wouldn't be ashamed of having to suppress a small urge in that situation.

Not sure if this fits here but anyway today I have started to take tablets so I can give up smoking. I have been smoking for almost 40 years, I have tried the patches and gum but was unsuccessful. I have heard that these tablets are really good. So day 1 for me.

I had a really good day yesterday, finally finding a new room mate. But the even better part is I didn't even think about having a drink to celebrate. I just texted my friends the good news.

We didn't talk specifically about drinking, but I don't think there will be a problem. She's very involved in her church, and is a bit older - I know that's no guarantee, but I don't think she'll be a big drinker.
