Can anxiety (ie; GAD - not panic attacks) hit for no reason at all?. I mean, can you have a bout of anxiety for no apparent/obvious reason (ie; you did'nt just get chased by a grizzly bear or anything)?.

By the way, I want to apologize for not being more interactive here and responding to some of these posts but it's been kind of tough lately between working on my project (very time consuming) and dealing with my anxiety probs. I've been on Neurontin for two days now and it has helped considerably but it's still "there".

Hi Grey,

Yes, for me anxiety is not about being frightened of something, like grizzly bears etc. In fact, if I was in an anxiety state and a grizzly bear wandered up, I don't think I would even notice!

I think the key is that GAD anxiety is a state. It's a state that you take with you all day long sometimes. You have to deal with it at the root, which is possible. Sometimes other people hardly notice, if you can get your strategies in place.

A friend of mine once said, "You do a good impression of being relaxed." That was the best I could manage at the time. Anxiety is bum deal, we all know that, but it's surprising how much you can do with the right strategies.

Here in the UK we have a phone helpline called 'No Panic', is there anything like that where you are Grey?

Good (and peaceful) thoughts, Myzen

To all of my wonderful freinds here...

I have missed all of you very much as well and hope to spend more time here once I'm not so preoccupied and (hopefully) feeling a little better. This is such a unique and special community here and I'm proud to be a part of it .

Last night I hopped into bed and closed my eyes to fall asleep but every few minutes I would be jolted awake by a frightening sense of panic. Then I'd just lay there, scared out of my wits with my eyes wide open. This went on for an hour (I'd guess). I woke up at one point in a mild fevery-type sweat and yet my temp was normal this morning (as it usually is). I also get these little ripple/tremors/quivers from time to time (sort of like a horse's skin when a fly lands on it or something).

I just went off benzos cold turkey after taking them for over 2 months. Is this typical of benzo withdrawl?. Is it typical of just plain old anxiety?. It is'nt the first time I've had weird feelings/sensations, etc. I swear I'm dying a slow death sometimes.

Oh, I forgot to mention that for the last two nights I have been taking 200mg of Neurontin shortly before bed. It does make me sleepy (which is good) but I also feel somewhat weird on it too. Can Neurontin cause anxiety or other funny sensations?.

Anyway - thank's for all the replies

I am sorry to hear that you are not feeling so well. I myself am on Neurontin. The dose of 200mg is really small and yes it will for the first few days or even a week make you feel kinda like you are walking on air. It is an unusual feeling. As far as the other things you are feeling, I think you should call your Pdoc. It is not good to stop any P-meds cold turkey. You should slowly reduce your dosage. This may be what is causing your feelings.
Oh and by the way the neurontin works wonders!
I am thinking about you and hope you begin to feel better.

Yes it can grey goose.
I've had it happen for no reason, but obviously it's a trigger from something, maybe something you were unable to recall, something you weren't aware of.

You tummy could have triggered it, maybe it was upset. A headache, feeling too hot etc.

Stuff like that can easily trigger anxiety even if you were not aware of it.

yes it can.. I think that is what is causing some of my symptoms also.. But then agian I am not sure..

I have found that if I find a cool place to go in hide, or place a cool wet wash cloth or towel on my forehead, it sometimes helps, that is what helped me today, when I got home.. I did not even have to take a second pill..

I am so sorry you are having a rough time, like me..

I am so sorry to see others go through what I do on a dialy basis..
attacks of any kind is bad for all of us..

Keep us informed.

Grey, what you described IS what GAD is all about: unexplained anxiety. Good to see you posting, be well.
