Anxiety, thats what. Im so sorry, just two months ago i was this way. Do you have a significant other or good family member you live with? In may i was waking up every 45 minutes violently shaking, it would wake my fiance up and he would get up and rub my back for 3-5 minutes and it really helped. Im unmedicated atm but have been on valium numerous times. Valium originally was a muscle relaxer but when your muscles relax it calms the anxiety, a back rub is a great temporary cure until you can meet with a treatment provider.
Do you know what this fear is about? If you do, or even if not, i am lately a firm believer in positive affirmations. Write them down and repeat them throughout the day "i will get great sleep tonight" "i am not afraid" "i am safe" etc, counteract the negative thoughts, even if you dont believe them and soon it starts working and you will believe them. I will be thinking of you, i know how troubling this can be |

The only person I live with is my Dad. I can't go to him for help because when I have anxiety he yells at me and tells me I'm doing it for attention or faking it , but I'm not - I really can't help it . I don't want to be this way. I also wake up shaking!! Sometimes I'm not sure why, others I had nightmares that cause it.
I'm not medicated. Dad wants to get me medicated , but I honestly feel like that is avoiding the problem. & yes... I know what my fear is. See, I've always had panic attacks once in a whole , but after a boy in my class had a seizure next to me .. It got SO MUCH WORSE. Like.. It's hard for me to live normally , or spend time with my friends. Also, my parents got divorced and that has affected me pretty negatively. I often TRY to right , but my mind slips around a lot . Thank you though for your post & though this really sucks .. I'm glad I can relate to someone because for months I thought it was just me. I've questioned my sanity sometimes .

Well we are also similar because my anxiety spike in may was because of a seizure. But i was the one who had the seizure.
I dont take meds most of the time but when my anxiety gets this way its extremely helpful. It eases your fears as you work through them mentally. Ive been on and off valium for 11 years, only take it a few weeks out of the year when im so anxious. Its not a way to run from problems but a way to help manage until you are able to on your own. Waking up in a panic isnt managing. If youre so objected to the medications, there are herbal medications over the counter you can get. Ask your doctor, they should know |

Oh wow ... I'm really sorry. Yeah the medication thing has been an underlying decision that I have been avoiding. I wouldn't mind trying the over the counter herbal stuff though because it's natural & I will talk to my doctor about it. Thank you so much for all your help ... I REALLY appreciate it

Glowiebird,
Since you don't want to try medication you may want to look into Dr Bach's Rescue Remedy. You can get it from Amazon or any local vitamin store. Rhodiola and Relora are also supposed to be effective for anxiety. They should carry them at your local vitamin store as well. Have you tried listening to sleep music or taking Valerian to help you sleep? I am confused as to why your father wants you to be medicated if he thinks you are faking it to get attention. It sounds like he doesn't understand what you are going through, and I am sorry that you can't confide in him. Please know that you are not the only one who is going through this...Most of us here do understand.
