It would be but everyone would be disorganised so in a way in would be the new norm, thank you, i have an anxiety disorder which got to the point id have panic attacks going out my house. I still suffer with anxiety but not as bad as it was and have a soft spot for people with other mental illnesses cause it's treated differently to other physical conditions/disabilities etc.

I know quite a few people with ADHD and i see the same kinda pattern happen with them where they seem defeated or that they should just get on with it and dismiss their struggles cause 'others' don't go through what they do. Seeing how they get treated upsets me to the point i wish i had ADD/HD so they wouldn't have to deal with it all by themselves. I want to learn about the subject more so that i can be a better cousin/friend to them.

Learning more about it will give me an insight that others won't have cause they either don't believe in mental illnesses, think it doesn't apply to them or thinks that is isn't important.

Thanks

Claire

Thank you so much for sharing that, do you feel that way from knowing that you have ADHD or are you comparing yourself to people without the condition cause i could understand that. I have an anxiety disorder so i am more aware of what it looks like in other people if that makes sense? I can look at someone and go yep they must have anxiety as they have these same traits.

Traffic must be the bane of your life, i really feel for you

Thanks again

Thank you so much for replying that is understandable you want to complete things that make it worth the effort. I really feel for you it must be frustrating and when you say regulating your emotions what exactly happens?

thank you so much for sharing that i can imagine how tough that must be especially when you know how to manage them now. Life is never too short to start something new, who is to say you can't check whether you have it or not and who is to say you can't turn over a new leaf tomorrow? Don't give up

Thats brilliant at least you have someone else to take over the boring stuff and hopefully it helps your overwhelming fear of it.

Thanks

I am still effectively irresponsible (even when I care so much about my tasks I lose sleep over them - until I forget about them that is), unreliable, unable to pay my bills on time (and then spend an entire day procrascinating at work because I left my bills at home and I can't pay for them), unable to pay attention, to meet deadlines. No matter how well my intentions are.

I can manage for a few months here and there, but I feel like I could barely stay in a job for even a year...
I am almost 45 and a few months ago was diagnosed with ADD. I have many of the symptoms of a typical ADDEr . Yes itsucks , the bills get behind, what i have been doing ismaking calenders 3 months in advance. Putting the dates to the bill thats due along with payday schedules. As a bill comes in place in on the calender. Then when you get paid set aside time to pay online or go drop payments off. I hope this helps . As i still struggle with my issues.
Good luck and best wishes. Don't give up.

I hope you do find out the reason for being easily distracted i sure as hell know i can be and i don't have ADHD but you never know.

A lot of people who have ADHD that get diagnosed later on in life feel like they have lost so many opportunities and wasted so much of their life. Be careful.

I'm 45 and yes . I feel saddened to the fact I've lost so much not knowing about ADD earlier in life. I believe my life would have definitely turned out different.

Thank you for replying that sounds rough, do you find yourself getting fed up of trying cause to me that sounds draining always having to be attentive and on form. I know people with the condition who have a safe version of themselves where they try to focus so intensely on someone to the point they become hyperfocused on them... Which never ends well once it wears off not to mention it is draining for them to be the best they can be all the time.

I defo empathise with you i can only try and understand what it is like through these forums instead of personal experience.

Thank you again for sharing that

Thank you for responding i can understand why you'd think that way but maybe it's not all bad, maybe you were able to live an interesting, exciting and spontaneous life, you must be talented or have a hobby, profession that you excel in compared to the non-add'ers. Maybe this is a new leaf for you to change chapters in your life and gain full control of where you want your life to go.

Never lose hope thank you again

No worries, thank you that is really sweet i'm glad you have a career you excel in and it must keep you on your toes, i'd be petrified to do that. Don't blame you for being knackered it must be exciting though always being alert at work and never knowing what will happen.

Thank you again

My disorganization, fidgetiness and going to sleep. My brain doesn't shut down. I can't take meds because of high by. I wear headphones at work to keep the distractions out.

I am seeing an ADHD specialist soon, but I am fairly certain that I do suffer from ADHD.

The hardest thing about living with the symptoms of ADHD, for me, is the low self-esteem, mood swings, and depression that often accompanies the disorder.

Thank you for replying does moving on the spot make it easier to focus? Apparently sitting on a bouncey ball at work helps. What is high by? Sorry i am really bad with medical terms, i feel for you although there are natural remedies that are suppose to help ADHD. Thats a good idea headphones can cancel out any distractions.

Thank you again

Thank you for responding thats good you are gonna check if you have it, hopefully then you can learn coping mechanisms and tactics to control the symptoms and use it to excel in what you love.

When you say low self esteem is that from having untreated ADHD?

Thank you again

Oo okay thank you for that so does it impact your ADHD in anyway? Like if you have high sugar levels in your blood could that make your mind more active or have a sugar rush?

Solidifying tasks. Tasks are arbitrary. Therefore each step of the task becomes a task in itself but left undefined. Subsequent tasks cannot follow. In the end the task will solidify itself and there is nothing I can do at that point.

It results in failing to have a tangible object of conversation. When the conversation becomes self referential I can't hold my consciousness, at best I pause and release. This is worse when there is another mental task at hand. Separating my thought process from a dominate arbitrary concept leaves me with no grasp on the meaning of the conversation. I am left confused. Irritated by nonsense. Sometime the arbitrary concept is an emotion. This makes it easier to retain a conversation that does not result in the other person complaining.

One of the easiest things is separating myself from feedback. For instance, I had to learn how to speak again after resuming treatment because I could hear my own voice.

Being able to follow along in conversations. When people assume you're not listening, but it's because you can't seem to turn off that thought you have about something that happened three hours prior.

Not being able to talk, and do certain things at the same time. Starting a sentence, and then saying "Uhhh....-" until you've completed a task with your hands, or finished merging into traffic.

Letting messes pile up, because you forget about them!
