I haven't ever heard this before. Has anyone else?

I think from now on I will refer to myself as a "Bipolarian" (instead of "I am a Bipolar type.") I don't mean to make light of our struggles, but I get tired of saying "I am [or have, depending on my mood] Bipolar Type 2."

I mean, this doesn't tell another what "type" you are, but you kind get around to that in the details. In the meantime, "I am a Bipolarian."

Cute... we aren't what we have though, remember? I don't mind saying I'm a sensitive; I don't wish to declare I'm a depressive. I have a new name for us bipolar types!

It's healthy if we can make light of things, we need that sometimes instead of all the serious stuff we deal with.
I have an aunt that means well, but when I am watching a movie, I don't want someone telling me "you know so and so (movie star or famous figure) is going to be on a talk show all about their illness, bipolar, like you have. . ."
Last time I told her, I do not need to watch it, I'm enjoying a movie, that non-bipolars watch".
Also, we know what we have, I don't need to hear what Carrie Fischer, Patty Duke, and other celebrities have or deal with, this stuff is nothing new. . .well at least to me it's not.
I like that bipolarbear name I heard awhile ago, we do need a little light stuff I have a new name for us bipolar types! Bipolarian, I'm also an Aquarian I have a new name for us bipolar types!

Right, and well said. That's why I said (depending on my mood) sometimes I say "I am bipolar" and other times I say "I have a bipolar disorder."

My new motto: Mum is the word. My experiences have taught me that there are too many narrow-minded individuals in this world that the less they know about my mental health, the better. I have a new name for us bipolar types!

Yes! I don't feel compelled to share with everyone. I think I did the first year or two because I was so happy I finally knew what was "wrong" with me. But now I don't feel the need to share anymore than I feel the need to share that I have high cholesterol.

I agree. Unfortunately, one I don't like to talk with about this is my dad. He thinks one should be able to will themselves well... like it's laziness or a character flaw or something. (Then again, I think he's bipolar himself, though he'd never admit it.)

I can relate about your Dad. You know the saying "Takes one to know one." Well, my sis-in-law is bi-polar, but she'd never admit to it let alone seek help for it. Her manic spending sprees have put her and my younger brother so far into debt it's not funny (she's a stay at home mom), and they've only been together 6 years. Then when she comes out of her mania and crashes, my niece and nephew aren't being cared for as they should be because she's hit rock bottom.

She's the resident authority on everything, yet knows nothing. She's even had the audacity to try to 'talk' to me about my BP...THAT was laughable considering I've done plenty of self-education on my BP. It was a VERY short conversation, that ended in a shouting match and my brother disowning me, because he feels I attacked his wife. Neither one of them cared enough to read the info I gave them about ME, so I blame all of this on their own ignorance. I still love my brother and know that there's going to be a day when he's going to come to his senses. All I have to do is be patient and wait.

(((((((((Dolfin)))))))))))) I am sorry about the thing with your brother. I don't tell anyone about my "condition" either. Its easier that way. I heard one of my employees talking about me the other day though. She said I was in one of "my moods". She said I expect way to much to get done in a single day. The general population really frustrates me.
