I go to judo 2-3 times a week for 1-3 hours at a time.
I have to say, I'm barely keeping even with the zyprexa's effects, but its better than no judo at all.

Activity is a habit with me. My gramps started me in dance & yoga when I was two. Yoga I've never quit. I still do 20min a.m. & p.m. I walk at least a mile mornings & usually night's. Work with weights 30 min daily. Treadmill with backpack twice a week, 30 min. Other activity--riding, dancing, etc--as the opportunity arises.
It feels good. Some of it, like dancing & riding, gives me a real high.

God you all put me to shame.
I haven't done any major exercise since November. I just can't get into it anymore. I use to play Badminton for 2 hours on a Monday, Swimming for an hour on a Tuesday and Tai Chi for 45 minutes on a Thursday. I am hoping to start Badminton and Tai Chi back up next week as we are still all off from the Christmas periiod. Swimming was through my group I attend. So it's whenever they want to re-start it again. I use to go to the gym for 3 hours 5 days a week before I became ill. Excerise is the last thing on my mind. But I have now put on so much weight it's depressing. So I am stuffing my face all this week with all the food left in my house and then dieting and exercising as of next week. My whole family are doing it ![]() |

Depends on what you consider exercise, and "regularly"...
Mostly I'm a sedentary slug; that comes with being chained to my keyboard writing a $^*&@#% dissertation. ![]() I do walk to campus a few days a week, which is 20 minutes each way and actually the equivalent of 20 flights of stairs given the terrain. When the weather is less crappy and I'm on top of my game in terms of feeding us, I take a 45-minute walk with hubby and dog in the evening. For awhile I was using my Wii Fit stuff a lot, especially the balance games, because the parts of your brain that control physical balance also regulate moods and attention, and you can actually improve brain function by training for better balance. But I haven't done that in awhile. Sometimes I go snowshoeing when the weather cooperates, but this winter has been crap for snow so far. In warmer weather, my husband and I go hiking as often as we can, most weekends. I particularly like backpacking, and at my weight plus pack weight it adds up to a 600+ calorie burn per hour for 6-8 hours a day.

I can easily walk over 10km a day. I tend not to use other forms of transport.
I once danced seriously but it ended up being a burden on my mental health (pressure to look good) than good for it so I stopped in 2010. I have tried other sports but I struggle to enjoy them as much. I think I will try to push myself to get into running or I am considering classes at the gym. |

I love to run. I have to take walk breaks but I'm trying to work my way into a solid 5k without breaks. I did two 5ks this past fall and had a blast, I'm already making a list of 5ks for spring through fall! I have a bad knee from running (I've run off and on for 15yrs) so when it acts up I take it easy.
I took my son swimming yesterday and must've gotten a better workout than I thought because I'm a little sore today but plan on going to the gym again today. |

When I exercise, I walk and run about 5 miles in total. I am getting away from heavy weightlifting and moving toward higher reps for endurance. I do a lot of carpentry and work outside with garden and woodpile and I find that the exercise program nicely dovetails with these activities. After a full day of both, my life absolutely "hums". There is really no comparison between the days I exercise and the days I don't. When the endorphines are flying, I'm much less likely to lapse into the depressions that come and go with bipolarism.

I do body combat-boxing and martial arts combo 2/3 days a week, core strengthening, body building at the gym. If I can't go to the gym due to a schedule conflict I do my exercise dvd's. I also do yoga. Lost 15 pounds-fighting off the Lithium weight issue.
When I am dealing with difficult emotions of irritability or depression the exercise gets rid of that, better than a T and cheaper too. |

Until May, I ran 3-5 miles per day, 5-6 days per week. Due to an injury, it was necessary for me to suspend my running for an intended 4 weeks. That 4 weeks ran through the end of the year.
Now, I have resumed my running program beginning January 1st. Yesterday, I entered a local competition called "Get Moving 2012". You compete with other teams of individuals to see who can lose the most weight and the most inches in 13 weeks. The top prize is a one year membership to a fitness center. I am hoping that the incentives will provide additional reinforcement for my desire to improve my health and fitness and motivate me to run on those days when I am tempted to turn off the alarm and go back to sleep. I felt that when I was running regularly, the exercise worked in conjunction with my medication to improve my moods and emotions. I have never felt better, and hope to recapture those feelings now. ![]() |

I'm in really steep mountains, so walking with weak knees is difficult. Treadmill won't fit it my trailer. I should be doing my weights or an exercise video, i think about it often. But i'm in that place where i'm sleeping 12-17 hrs a day and just having such a hard time just *living*, much less moving, even tho i know i need to to hell me pull out of this abyss.

I tried jogging today! I would jog only a minute or so then brisk walk, alternating. I felt pretty good after, too. Judo is tomorrow.

Lately I don't do much. But until about August I was running 2 miles a day. I hurt my foot and had to stop.
It is hard to get motivated again. I am fighting off a nasty cold so I thought after that I may try to run even just a mile a day to get back in the groove.

I sometimes walk to the fridge and back to eat granola. Does that qualify me as an outdoorsy type? How about if I put on hiking shoes?
LOL. I'm just retraining my body with meds this year so the answer is no. But I do enjoy walking, except in the Winter when I tend to hibernate. In the summer, I love to walk for hours on end. |

I'm really impressed by how much everyone exercises. For those who are ashamed of not doing formal exercise for months...I haven't done any in at least 2 years!
![]() Like AniManiac, I do get a lot of physical activity in just from walking my hilly campus. Last semester, I walked at least 40 min/day twice a week. But I never went searching for it; I had to do the walking to get to class, lol. I would love to get back into exercising, but by now I'm so out of shape that the shame actually keeps me away. I did manage to do 15 crunches and 2 lunges (one on each side) today...I really am going to have to start small! haha

I didn't realize there were so many avid runners (and walkers) amongst us at PC.
Oh my, wouldn't I love to arrange a group run and a delicious recovery breakfast for us! It'd be so great to have everyone moving outside and talking in person...but then we would lose our anonymity... Oh well, 'twas a good idea. :-)

OMG you people make me seem like a lazy slob! Ok ok, it's not you. I AM A LAZY SLOB. The last actual exercising I did was taking up dance as a subject in high school. TEN yrs ago. Guess I haven't bothered coz I've never exceeded 45kg (except during pregnancy) maybe I should start before my metabolism realizes I'm no longer 15. And to clarify, yes I still where the same size clothes as I did during HS. Meh, I'm heavy unfit, maybe 1 day I'll try it out... You guys seem to enjoy it...

Oh no. I hate "exercising" as such. It's boring and so on. But I like taking walks and hikes that get me outdoors.
So much of it seems to be finding something that appeals, and then doing it long enough to get results. They say that most things take 60 repetitions to become a habit, less for cigarettes, but more for exercise...
