Or cry. Idk.
.
Day 9 of constant back ache. Went back to the clinic. The nurse hasn't a clue what it could be, instead of referring me to a state hospital, she gave me more useless meds. The nursing assistant said I MUST make a nuisance of myself before they take me seriously and send me to a Dr or specialist. Atleast they were nice, and not grouchy after such a long day.

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your back. Do you have any type of massager you can use? Those help me. Lying in a tub of hot water helps me too.

I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks MD. Heat has been a help, the tub is too uncomfortable for me, I'm using a hotwater bottle. Great at night, but it's hot during the day... I doubt a massager would work bcoz it's my spine that on fire, but I'll give it a go. Feels like there's a huge man applying all his weight to my back with his knee. (and I'm only 1.52m and 43kg )
.
I just want to cry, but it's so dumb, pathetic even, cos I didn't even cry for 15hrs of labour! Argh atleast I knew what labour was and that it couldn't last forever. This is a whole different kettle of fish... I'm scared I guess, not familiar with this feeling, but I think that's what it is... Scared.

Is there not a nerve pinched or something? Wow no crying during labour!!! I screamed and they closed the doors of the labour room in the very small and nice private hospital (I probably scared everyone) What about taking anti inflammatory pills?

Do you have some back problems as scoliosis or so?

I'd be careful with baths. Water can be tricky with backpains, as it gets colds progressively and might make it worse the end. Never really worked for me.

Keep warm though. Which part of back is it? Can you try stretch very carefully and try to slowly, very slowly turn the torso? Could be a "blocked nerve" (not sure of the exact english term, but this is what I get).

Chihuaha, bcoz of the horror stories I heard, I was waiting for labour to get worse didn't even realize that that was it. They didn't give me any anti- inflammatories this time around, the 1s I took last week didn't help.
.
Venus. I never had back problems before, I used to dance competitively in HS and never had problems or had any injury that could explain this pain. It started at the top of my spine, inbetween my shoulder blades, and spread downward and sometimes my hips hurt too, when that happens, walking is a nightmare. If I look too far down, it feels like it's about to snap. If I turn my torso in either direction, the pressure moves to my ribs...
.
A medical friend of mine mentioned a blocked/pinched nerve, but even he's getting worried.

And so I did end up crying, still crying. Not bcoz of the pain tho. I decided to chat with my brother, he's in Spain. Told him I miss daddy coz atleast he'd reassure me and try to soothe me.
.
The M0FO said he can't help me anym0re, im the source of my own misery, its my emotional/mental turmoil (BIPOLAR) manifesting in my SPINE! Argh. I honestly think the older I get, the closer I come to hating my family. F**k this!

You aren't alone Trippin, PC is here with you. Sending many hugs your way.
I don't understand how your medical system works. Do you have to have the clinic send you to the hospital? You can't just go yourself? Or call an ambulance? I mean, if you have to have the clinic, and they are telling you you have to be a nuisance, then I'd go in there every day. Forget this once a week crap. Why should you suffer? Your body has already shown it's not going to go away spontaneously or with anti-inflammatories.

I've been thru the referral system crap myself, so you have my complete sympathy. And more hugs.

BB, I have to get a referral, it sucks. Apparently there's some sort of shortage surrounding our ambulances and they only take emergencies. Since I'm breathing fine, not having a heart attack and i'm not in labour...
.
Thank you all, for being there for me, yet again. It's bittersweet that the people who NEVER fail me are faceless individuals scattered around the globe

Big hugs Trippin ((((hugs))))

Back pain is awful. I really really hope you can get some help. All the red tape uggh, oh I hear ya. I haven't had very good experience with dr's finding causes once I actually get to see them either. Hopefully that's not going to be the case.

No it isn't in your head! I hate that so much, my dr puts my physical symptoms down to being in my head, because we all know I'm crazy. My rashes are not in my head, neither are my visibly swollen joints. Don't listen to that.

We are here with you girl, always! Keep doing the heat if that's helping. Keep pushing to see a dr. I know it's really hard when you feel like you are getting nowhere. but just keep bugging them, yes everyday like Buggs said. It's not right to be in this much pain.

Thanks Anika. I wish I COULD bug them everyday, but I just CAN'T. I can't sit in an uncomfortable bench for 5hrs a day, daily, for who knows how long... It's hard enough staying comfy in a comfy seat.
.
Seriously, I just want to say to hell with it.

I fractured my L1 in my back a year ago after bailing off the horse I was riding after it spooked. At first, I didn't realized it was fractured until several weeks later when the soreness didn't go away like I knew it should.

Inflamation.......takes cold packs.....not hot. Hot actually makes the swelling worse & causes more pain where the cold reduces swelling & thus reduces the pain.

I learned that after I had my knee reconstructed also. They used moist heat packs right before I was doing the PT & exercises, then cold after to reduce the swelling.

I used the hot showers on my back, then had an ice pack to put on immediately after.

If you picked up anything heavy, that can cause compression fractures just as can by falling. I landed basically sitting down on the ground & the compression caused the vertebra to compress & fracture. With the fracture I couldn't pick up anything more than 5 pounds. For the first month, I didn't know that & actually caused the compression & fracture to get worse rather than better.

However, it you haven't done anything, more than likely, it's a pinched nerve. Sometimes that just takes the inflamation to go away, but sometimes it can take needing to be in the hospital & they devices that can stretch out the spine enough to relieve the pain until it heals enough.

I know that cold feel like it hurts, but it's the only thing that can take down inflammation. I was surprised how much better my back actually felt after sitting with the cold pack for 20 minutes.

I know how bad backs can feel. I broke mine the end of March last year & it didn't start to feel good until 2 months ago. I started riding a about 4 months after I fractured it.....but really couldn't do much of anything....like clean the house, run the vacuum, mow the yard.

Back pain is tough to deal with.....

Thanks EL for sharing, glad you recovered, that must've been aweful on so many different levels.
I definitly didn't injure it in anyway. Guess the nurse ruled out inflammation bcoz I had zero results with anti-inflammatories. I HATE getting cold, but I'll give the ice-pack a go. At this point I'm ready to try eating toiletpaper if it might help thanks!

just curious, but can you tell if the pain is muscular or skeletal or differentiate at all where it's coming from??

i have horrible issues with my back/neck/shoulders... i know you said your spine feels like it's on fire... so my suggestion might be useless.. but i'll offer it anyway..

i use icy hot.. like, religiously... it heats up the area & often allows me to GENTLY stretch the spots that are hurting so badly... which over time (usually) adds up to pain relief... sometimes the icy hot itself relieves the pain at least enough to allow me to get some good solid rest... which helps a great deal all the way around...

i'm so sorry you're in such pain & wish there was a quick and easy answer that would definitely work!!

regarding your family, my heart goes out to you... there's nothing worse than feeling completely alienated from the people you want to be the closest to... especially when it's because of the bipolar disorder... the people that matter the most... when they just don't get it & so they want to "throw in the towel" on you... it's crushing i'm so sorry you're experiencing that in your own family... my heart hurts for ya on that one...

always know you do have us... the "faceless individuals scattered around the globe" we're not going anywhere!!!

lots of hugs being sent through the airways to your location... and positive vibes, too... just in case they work keep us posted on how you're doing & if there's anything at all we can do to support you while you're dealing with all this...

Thanks for the hugs, kind words and advice TS. I've checked my muscles, they're fine, not even tense. My shoulders tense up a bit when the pain seems unbearable. There's no doubt, it's definitly skeletal, and it's spreading, right now my coccyx is the 'hot spot'.
My knees have started aching too idk if it's related. Maybe I need a new skeleton...

Hi, thanks for checking in. I think it's getting better, either that or my pain tolerance has increased I'm going to wait out this week, and take it from there.

I am glad you are feeling a little better. Do you have a chriopractor near you? Or massage therapy? Maybe it would help.

Good to hear that! Is it getting colder there already? I know when seasons change I get back pain ( nothing compared to yours ) and it usually disappears after a few days. My sis tore her ligaments in her shoulder so it's sling for her for 8 weeks. I'ts been 4 days and she's grumpy as hell. Feel for you! Maybe Physio?? Hang in there!!
