Studies have shown that what we fuel our bodies with (food and liquids) has an impact on our psychical and mental well-being

Can anyone share on this?
What do you do to create body-mind harmony?

All input would be really appreciated

Well, I am trying to eat healthier--like foods from the different food groups such as fruits and veggies. Fewer fats and sweets. I also do take multi-vitamins.

And I eat more small meals during the day.

I hope this kind of thing is what you are looking for.

I was grocery shopping today and suddenly looked at the contents of my cart and realized that everything in it was processed crap. The closest any of it came to being healthy was Grape-Nuts and a bagged salad. No wonder I have no energy (except when I'm hypomanic, like now). SOmethings gotta change.

Eating well should be a basic life skill.

I do not have a 100% healthy diet but its a hell of a lot better than most out there. I havent found my diet to affect my mood in any way, even when I was being super healthy my moods still fluctuated. But if I was to eat takeaway and processed food for a week, I would be feeling pretty gross. Its not rocket science.

A tip - start in the fresh food section, your trolley will be full of the good stuff before you get to the processed packaged junk.
Thanks for this!

I try and eat as healthy as I can. Fruits, vegetables, legumes, tofu, whole grains, Quinoa, some dairy, I try and use unsweetened almond milk as much as possible and no added sugar, as well as no processed foods. I did some research on the best foods to eat with a mood disorder and gear my eating habits toward that.

I also supplement with Omega 3's, Vitamin D3, Valerian root and Chamomile, so far, I should also should look at B vitamins as well. I'll be seeing a naturopath next week so I'm sure this will change.

I hope this is helpful

I grew up eating mostly super health foods because my mother was an RN. She shunned sugar & "store bought" foods. But I had all the bipolar symptoms (plus OCD & seizures)
In the 90s, my husband & I saw a PBS TV show about a high fat diet that was helping children who had terrible seizures. I had not yet been diag. w/bipolar or OCD but strongly suspected I had those. So I began not worrying about eating more fatty foods. And the seizures calmed, so did the rages that come (for me) with depression.
But it was the meds that finally worked for me. I have to eat beef at least 3X/week or I get the shakiness & anger that can lead to rage. My parents told me they noticed that in me when I was 2 years old. I'd say "I need a cheeseburger or somethin'" and they'd get me one or make me one & I'd calm down. https://www.epilepsy.com/learn/treat...ketogenic-diet

I know I feel better when I eat a good balanced diet and exercise, but I am not if it's ever played into whether I go hypo, get depressed.

I have BP I and Fibromyalgia so healthy food is a MUST for me ... I avoid carbs like the plague .. they bog me down and effect my mood and my pain .

Most every grocery store carries all healthy foods on the outside walls . meats, dairy, fruits and veggies are mostly all on the inside walla of most all stores .. so I just stick to that.

Most people dont realize how diet effects there lives... and people who say they cant afford healthy foods need to take the garbage ( twinkies, chips, dips and processed food) out of there cart and bam there is your money for good foods .

Its not hard to eat healthy.. just takes some planning .

It's really difficult to eat healthy when you're battling moods and working as you do

Moderation is good to subscribe to. I need exercise every day and watch how much fat I take in. And as I get older I realize it's better to eat something nutritional with taste than something sweet and filling. Before you know it you won't even miss sweet foods. And raw fruit is much better than a glass of juice or canned fruit. Sugar makes you hungry so skip processed OJ in the morning and have an orange or grapefruit.
