I don't really find therapy useful, but in my other thread I made a while back, some people suggested that I space out my appointments more. So, I think I'm going to try that.
I currently have therapy every 2-3 weeks, and I definitely think that's too much for me. I mean, 2-3 weeks was good at first, but I'm at the point where I think I don't need it that often or even need it at all. Though, before I totally give up on the idea of therapy, I want to try spacing out my appointments more. Then if that doesn't work, bye-bye therapy. I'm just wondering how often you guys go to therapy ![]() |

Once a week but if I get worse it goes to twice quickly. I don't think this is necessarily typical but it is what works best for me. I tend to lack insight once things develop into much of an episode and twice a week lets someone keep a closer eye on me and also seems to keep me safer if I know I never have to go more than a few days without being able to talk.

I was going once a week until I switched insurance and my therapist was no longer covered. Then I just quit going for the summer. Under my new insurance which starts tomorrow she will be covered again so I'm going to contact her but I definitely want to space it out to every other week. When I'm stable I don't see the need for therapy. I went last year after my husband died so I could process everything that was happening but I don't feel the need to do that anymore. Basically I just want to make sure she's around if an episode arises.

Individual therapy once a week and DBT group once a week, all on the same day, today actually was my therapy day.

I've done weekly sessions with a couple different therapists. Eventually I fired each of them for repeating every week, "Don't be so hard on yourself." (or some variation of that)
I KNOW I'm hard on myself, that's why I was there in the first place. ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Weekly, but I'm afraid I might no longer be able to afford it, because of the high co-pay. I may have to step down to every other week although I wish I can continue weekly.

I started out going weekly but in recent months have been able to go 3-4 weeks between sessions. Even with being a very new widow, I don't really feel the need to go more often than that. I also see my psych NP every few weeks and we talk there too. She also is a widow so she knows what I'm going through.

It depends on how I am doing, if I am symptomatic or not...in a bad time i will go twice a week, during stable times I go about once every 4 weeks or so. The twice weekly therapy plus once a week psychiatrist visits that I do during bad times have kept me out of the hospital. Currently I see both once every 4 weeks. I don't like to go any further than that.

Once a week. Except when my T takes a five week holiday over Christmas. I need it as I have PTSD issues as well.

Currently I am trying to go every week.
In the past I have gone every other week. I think for me an every other schedule is about right. I experience therapy as a kind of invasive surgery and need about 2 weeks to recover. Therapy opens up all kinds of things that I need to process through. I an going currently every week as I am trying to get a diagnosis and a plan. So I am ok with my current schedule but would like change this once a the plan is in place. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The last time I was depressed, I hid it from my therapist. He didn't suspect anything.. and I preferred it that way. The first time I admitted to feeling depressed, he kept asking me all sorts of questions, and I felt like I was being pestered. I just don't like to talk to others about depression when I'm depressed. It just makes me feel overall worse for some reason, probably because I can't "cure" it overnight and because ruminating on it just reminds me how awful I really feel. In an ideal world, I would like to tell my therapist I'm depressed, have a 2-minute convo about it, and then talk about something else... but no, depression ends up being the topic for the entire session. Anyway, I see my pdoc on Friday the 9th... so about a week from now. |

Well I go once every two weeks, but I missed my last two appointments. I don't know I was feeling good so I didn't need it? But my sleeping is so horrible it would be nice to talk about it. Eh, I don't know I have been in therapy for almost 10 years, but I am starting to outgrow it.

I don't go anymore. If I did go back to therapy, I'd probably go once every 1 or 2 months. Just don't have enough to talk about to go more often. When I went weekly, it was like "so nothing has changed."

I see my T once a week, and pdoc once a month. It seems to work out.

Thank you blue for explaining.
Here is a suggestion: bring it up to your pdoc, they don't have time to go into things so you could quickly talk about it and maybe get a med tweek??? just a thought. bizi

My pdoc can be sorta thorough, but I'll have a better shot with my pdoc than I will with my therapist I just don't want to call my pdoc right now, as it's not "urgent". I can wait a week |

It used to be once a week, I wanted the therapy less often then..
It's important these professionals hear us and respect us ![]() I also had therapy twice a week with the same t, this was not a good idea ![]() My advice, for what it's worth is trust yourself first ![]()
