I take Turmeric, Zinc, B-Complexs,Vit D, Probiotic, Fish oil and Glucosomine/Condroitan, of course in addition to my meds.
It is a s*** ton of crap to take every day, but I really, truly think it all helps...especially the probiotic. Was SUPER constipated (TMI I know), to the point where I almost went to the ER. Started a good probiotic,and after about 2 weeks, no problems at all. Also, in case you didn't know, almost all the Serotonin in your body is stored in your gut!!!!! Healthy gut will help. What do you take, and does it work????? ![]()

Probiotic, Super B Complex, Vit D, multi-vit. They help. I get mouth sores without the Vit B. I am on the very low end of Vit. D even with supplementation so I drastically need that.The probiotic seems to help with constipation which is a pretty severe side effect for me so it takes a lot more than just the probiotic.
ETA: I forgot the most important of all: magnesium supplements for migraine prevention. HUGE difference. I guess I take it for granted now? Or I'm really tired (reality).

I take a powder that has many vegetables, things like spirilina and wheat-grass, lots of helpful herbs and stuff like ginseng, liquorice, multi vitamins and other goodies (about 76 ingredients all up). I also take protein powder, turmeric, fish oil and vitamin D. A lot of this is for my Chronic fatigue and Fibromyalgia but all those vitamins and minerals would help my mental state too.

I was taking the top rated Probiotic for years with no positive results on my IBS or mood. My son was taking them for years too (they had the best and most complete forms of bacteria and were much stronger than OTC versions. It was called VSL. We spent fortunes on the stuff over the years and my sons gastroenterologist told me that studies indicate it's not truly effective and told me to stop wasting my money. Science and studies change all the time however. I've read many pro vitamin materials, books and articles as well as well respected scientists who dispute their effectiveness and encourage getting vitamins in the form of whole and healthy foods. I get confused and buy into each theory depending on the day, my mood and how much extra money I have to spend on supplements which may or may not work. Lots of schools of thought on this topic and I'm very glad there are people whose illness responds well to these treatments. A doctor I talked to earlier this year who I told about the supplements I was taking and how I preferred natural methods and eating well to typically prescribed medications flat out said "that's not going to work, you have bipolar". She was confident that active bipolar cannot be treated with natural medications. Some days I believe her, others I just get so confused and ready to start spending hundreds a month on supplements again. I really can't afford it now so it's not even an option. I will try again once money isn't so tight. Quality fish oil seemed to help but it's so expensive to get the kind they claim actually works.

My husband can't take a multivitamin so we buy them individually. Other than the alaphet vitamins, I take a lot of magnesium as my body can't hold on to it. I also a very high quality nascent iodine, the amino acids 5-htp, DLPA, GABA, glutamine and lysine, the natural mineral supplement lithium orotate, glucosamine, ionic sulfur, CoQ10, selenium, chromium, molyb and the herbs cordyceps, valerian root extract and pumpkin seed extract.

I take vitamin d. Not sure if it's helping at all. Apparently I was really deficient.

Vitamin d as I was deficient. I also take valerian root and melatonin to sleep.

I take Vitamin D because its typically low in bipolar people.
Bipolar is (imo) so closely linked to oxytocin problems, which I think are the cause of the serotonin and other problems (btw oxytocin injections during labor increase the child's bipolar risk by 2.5x). So to help with that I take vitamin C and eat foods high in protein, magnesium, and cholesterol. |

I'm new to this. Other than my meds, I take 60 billion cells of probiotic daily. Just started a week ago, so I don't know how they're working! but antidepressants and anti psychotics really throw your gut out of wack.

What is tumeric good for? I take a multi, B12, and for sleep, valerian root and melatonin. I am thinking of eating yogurt on a regular basis, a fermented type of food that is good like a probiotic, or so I am told.

20 grams vitamin c, 1000 IU natural form E, 75000 IU natural form beta carotene, 12mgs astaxanthin, b-100, 3 grams niacinamide (B3), 30mgs lycopene, 5 grams fish oil, 5000 IU D3, 2-3 grams green tea extract, 10000 micrograms biotin, 20mgs lutein.
I've got bottles of selenium and zinc around. I'm going to start taking them soon. |

i use a lot of time release. that helps a lot. the carotenoids seem to help my skin (I got that glow, lol). the b3 seems to help anxiety.
