Well I can’t sleep and refusing to pop an ambien. All I can think of is this foreign belly. I am almost 100 lbs overweight and at 320. 220 I’d look great. Hell I’ll take 235. I’m thinking why couldn’t I control myself during this depression. Isn’t the opposite suppose to happen and not eat?
I really want this weight off badly. I keep on setting deadlines that I don’t even try. I miss hav8ng a girlfriend, being social, being out in public, being content with myself. I barely have any memories from my twenties and I know their were a lot of good times. I’m in a weight prison. I don’t let myself enjoy life because of my weight, mainly because I’m ashamed of myself and feel like a failure. I recently talked about this in iop. I can’t get their words or encouragement to sink in on this. We “peeled” the layers back and attribute my weight gain as a sign of failure and punishment I don’t let myself out. I shared with everyone I’d like to lose at least thirty lbs by New Years. As my previous thread I haven’t even started. I’m so afraid that this will be another year alone. I always wished for a nice birthday but never had one. I don’t want this to be alone at my apartment feeling sorry for myself. God I wish so much and have achieved so little. I k ow what to do and feel it’s so easy. Yet it is so hard. I’m sorry if you’ve heard this before and have encouraged me or commented. As you can tell I hold my birthday in such high regards and it is always a bust.

I used to be 100 pounds overweight. I took it upon myself to lose weight and started walking about 3-5 miles a day. It took me about 3-4 hours to walk initially. I also ate salads and lots of vegetables with protein, such as chicken, nuts, beans. I recommend to talk to a dietician/ doctor before you go on a diet and see if you can work out something. I lost 50 pounds in about 8 months. Then, I have lost more since I've been walking a lot again. Walking is good exercise. Please don't do energy or protein shakes because they don't work. Diet and exercise are the best solution. I don't eat just salads now but try to eat healthy most of the time even when I go to McD's and eat salads instead of fries, etc. I also splurge now because my weight is not that bad now. I highly recommend you talk to a dietician first or doctor first before you embark on a diet. It took you years to gain weight. So, please don't expect to lose weight quickly. Be patient and the weight will come off once you start dieting. Also, sometimes treat yourself to something you like to eat once a week. Otherwise, if you change your diet too drastically, you might not stick to it. Moderation is the key to success. And, one last thing don't weigh yourself daily but may be once or twice a week. If you start basing your success on your weight, you might be become discouraged easily. I wish you the best!! And, if you at first don't succeed, keep on trying.

Are you a man or a woman? I feel for you and was in exactly the same position - I thought of my weight and especially the belly as my prison.
It is not that I have lost that much weight, but I have changed other things and am feeling much better and having a very active social life. Part of this had to do with finding ways to dress, which is why I am asking whether you a man or a woman. If you are a woman, I can recommend solutions. Also, it is very important to eat healthy foods and feel good about eating them without aiming to lose weight. In addition to salads and protein, it is extremely beneficial to eat broth-based soups. Cook soup with a lot of vegetables and some protein and consume any amounts of it without restriction. Mexican soups are really good - some chicken or some beef and lots of carrots, squash, etc. Eat with onions and cilantro and lime juice. Filling, tasty, versatile. Fermented diary is tasty, high in protein and calcium, and boosts immunity. This is my favorite after lots of experimentation: - farmers' cheese - kefir cheese - 1-2 persian cucumbers diced ever so finely - Mexican onions: diced the green part regularly and for the white part, slice if lengthwise and then dice across. Mix everything very well. Add sea salt. I also eat eggs every morning - they are no longer considered dangerous to health. I saute vegetables, varying them - e.g. leeks and zucchini, diced finely, or mushrooms and summer squash - then mix eggs with a little milk, whist, pour over vegetables. Then sprinkle with grated cheese and something green (dill, parsley), cook and eat with kefir cheese and some fresh vegetable - say, tomatoes with a little olive oil. So it is a very big breakfast which is healthy and which allows not to overeat later in the day. |

What would you like to do ?
What are your interests other than working out. New years day is a tough day because almost everything is closed but if you have any suggestions let me know, we can do something for your birthday.

Quote:
I lost 60 pounds in my 40s doing low carb, and it WORKS. I only lost 15-20 pounds per year, but so what if it is slow. I’m in my 50s and the weight did not come back. I can’t seem to lose more and keep it off. I’ve lost more but I bounce back to where I am. I am happy with how much I’ve lost. You can be happy without being thin, and try not to see it as the only way to happiness. You are worthy of love just the way you are. |
