I really need to get into shape. Your posts make me realize taking action can be done.

I noticed you live in "Cajun Country." Do you speak/understand Bayou French?

I can speak very little french,
just enough to make my old cajun clients smile.
Drinking a strong brewed coffee. I bought espresso beans this last time and it is strong but that is what I like.
hubby only drinks about 2/3 of a cup. I will drink 2-3 cups.
I am a little stiff this morning from raking leaves.
170.7 this morning, still hoovering this past week.
sigh
I don't have any clients this morning so I can lounge around in my jammies if I want to.

The banker just called and said our 2nd mortgage/ line of credit is ready to go. So I will go in and start the closing process. So much for lounging!

The house:
We have lots of things that we want to have done: just put in a new brick mail box. The biggest thing next is fixing the foundation., Which will upset the yard and we need to get a new front door, ours is very old wood and cracked. People have used wood filler etc...it looks terrible. We want to do some painting on the out side of the house which is mostly brick but the shutters are wood and look awful! We should bring our electrical wiring up to code. We have aluminum wiring when we should have cooper.
Want to replace the front window in the living room and a new light fixture for the outside by the front door.

After the foundation work is done in the next couple of weeks we need to add dirt to the back yard and have it tilled and then put down sod. (the grass all died and it is a dust bowl back there) We took down a sickly tree last year that was killing the grass.
Last week I called a nursery and they said that should happen late march.

I think I want a new kitchen. It will have to be built custom because it is so small and we want to utilize all of the spaces. If we went with home depot they have boxed in cabinets so we would lose corner spaces.
There are some cracks in the sheet rock and a couple of inside doors don't shut so the sheet rock will have to be repaired.
We will hire companies to do all of this work.

In his bathroom, Jeff wants new flooring and a new cabinetry. In my bathroom, I think I just want a new sink and mirror. We will hire a contractor to coordinate the work that needs to be done. I have a couple of names to work with.

I definately could get hypo with all of this work that will be happening.
Need to keep my cool and not stress too too much.

WE decided to stay put in the house and make some improvements to our house to be more to our liking. With all of the work that we will have done. It is still cheaper to remodel than buying a new home. Not sure what our budget is.

1-financing
2-foundation
3-sod back yard
4-front door
5-fix sheet rock
6-paint outside shutter
7-inside wiring and outside light
8-new living room window
9-kitchen
10-bathrooms

lots of projects, lots of money!

I went to a refuge recovery meditation group, following a buddist train of thought and helping people rid themselves of addictions.
It was interesting.
We meditated for about 20 minutes.I was not good at this. I could not focus enough on what he was saying. He kept repeating the 4 things we were supposed to be meditating about and I could not remember any of them. My mind wondered the entire time.
even so, I will go back. The book should arrive this week.

I like how the Buddhist think.....I don't think that way but it's something to work towards.

Yes, Thich Nhat Hanh has been my mentor for over 20 years. I enjoy others, too. Yet, for me, it had all started with him (Thay.) He used to have a community in my state. I also like Pema Chodron and Llama Surya Das.
They have helped me a great deal.

I don't know anything about Buddhism.
The book should help and I am sure there is alot on the net.
I definitely could get overwhelmed.
my husband has been wrapped up in the power of now. Has been for the past 6 months. Book book leads to another, then one video leads to another.
He has tried to explain some of these things to me and it is way over my head. I am glad he is on a spiritual journey towards enlightenment.
I just feel left out.
I am hoping that I can connect better to him by learning/studying.
Wish me luck!

My H and I sometimes read books and watch videos together... on our "spiritual journeys." This kept us close to one another.
Just a thought.

Great suggestion! Thanks for that. He is so much way ahead of me that every video he watches builds upon what he has already read. I think that would be difficult for me to follow, but I like the idea of that. Maybe he would be up to that, I could ask him, great idea again.
thanks!

Ate very healthy tonight.
Double helpings of zuchinni and green beans, marinated chicken, few little potatoes and a very small piece of the best lemon cake that I have ever had!!!! with berries and whipped cream.
moderation, though I am still hungry, I could have eaten more but wanted them to have left overs for brian to take for lunch.
I am looking forward to our nightly pop corn. I found one hundred calorie pop corn, it is very good.
Think I will make some hot tea.
nite yall!

For lunch I Ate at a new restaurant called poke geaux. line was to the door but it moved quickly.
hawaiian asian line like chipotle but much better selection. Ahi tuna small amount of sticky rice, and many toppings, it was bowl. Had edamame, pineapple, mandarin oranges, krab salad, and seaweed salad which I love and spicy ginger sauce and ponsu. which is a more flavorful soy sauce. I really enjoyed my meal! and it was very filling!
dinner was spicy andewy sausage and diced tomatoes and veggies, side of cabbage and kale and arugula greens with pumpkin seeds and crunchyquinoa. with a poppy seed dressing, sweet.
very good with 1/2 an avocado. and a la croix to drink. 100 calorie pop corn at 930pm shred with jeff. great snack that lasts a long time.
coming home from work I was really tempted to stop and have a beer. but resisted. 15 days into lent. Af.

Thank you for your support!

For 6 weeks I have been hovering around 172 pounds.
frustrating I keep watching the scale go up and down a few pounds.
I would be so happy to see 169!!!

I have the morning off. I just got off the phone and fixed an error with my website. I use weebly and have had the domain for years. It did not renew automatically, my card expired or something like that and I lost my old domain. so bummed about that. But we were able to get my new one easily this morning. thetravelingfootnurse.com - Home
see if you like it!
So it will automatically renew every 2 years.
When the card expires I will have to call them with the new info, but that isn't until 2021.
I need to change the website info on my car to update the changed web address. That is the only thing I have to change. oh and yelp. I already changed it on facebook, that was easy.

I have had a light week....Hospice called me to say a patient really needed me, I had stopped volunteering because I was so busy before. But I have a light day tomorrow so will see her in the morning out of town.
She has an ingrown toenail. I need to pick up some ambasol in case they don't have any numbing agent. Because her toe hurts, I will try to numb it before I cut the corner of the nail. She is bed bound. I wish she could sit up and soak her feet in epsom salts.

Yesterday, I met with the foundation company, Kevin is a nice guy. He spent over an hour with me, told me that most of the cracks that we see are from settling. the back part of the house is the problem area. We will also have them put in a barrier in the front yard to protect the house foundation from the big oak tree in front to prevent any future problems with that tree.
It is a big job.

I need to get in the shower. I look like a fright.
They are having speckled trout for lunch...yummy.

I just had a "God " thing happen.
I stopped off at a store to pick up a gallon of water. I am seeing this patient tomorrow morning and wanted to pick up some numbing agent. But forgot to do that. Wouldn't you know that they had some oragel at the check out aisle. And then as I was leaving an aide came up to me and said that another patienet/resident needed to see me with a bad toe. I can't see her until monday and called the desk to see if they could soak her foot until I get there on monday. She will get back with me tomorrow for family approval to see her.
That all happened in a matter of minutes of each other.

Mystery

It might be your bed. I know we are in desperate need of a new bed cause I wake up hurting. It helps if I sleep in the middle of the bed so I do that when I remember since my husband is gone. We went to FL for christmas and stayed at a roach motel (there was literally roaches in the room) and the bed was hard as a rock. I slept so well. No pain whatsoever. I was in heaven. I wished I could've brought that bed home. Hopefully we'll get money one day to get a new bed.

Moreta,
this is a new $4K bed
The other one was 15 years old and hubby insisted we get a new bed.
We went to mattress direct and tried all of their beds and the first one we got was too hard for hubby, kept it 45 days to make sure we did not like it.
hubby said his back started hurting. so we traded it for this bed. He sleeps better, I don't.
we should have bought a sleep number bed....sigh

Step back in time as you step aboard the Tall Ship Lynx for her first visit to your beautiful state. Lynx is an interpretation of a War of 1812 Privateer, Baltimore Clipper. Help the crew haul the lines and steer the ship. This sailing is good for all your generations. You are welcome to bring food and snacks. Come aboard and enjoy this unique ship and National Treasure, get the feel of her wooden decks under your feet and hear her thunder roar as we fire a 6# carronade and talk guns.

Jeff and I are going on this sail april 21st, It should be a fun 1&1/2hour sail on lake pontchartrain in new orleans.
See if I can get a picture of the boat!
