Who said shoveling wasn’t a workout?

Yesterday was a rest day, although I got well over 10k steps.
Just finished a Lower Body workout, 37 minutes total. Added weights to make it more challenging, and got a good challenge! This past week I did real workouts on 4 days, got over 10k steps 1 day and got over 7.5k steps one day. Not too shabby! ![]() |

Today was so good!
25 minutes elliptical machine. 75 minutes relaxed walking outside. So beautiful! Rested and ate a little snack. 15 minutes elliptical. 20 minutes walking indoors. Rested for 20 and ate a little snack. Bare class. Yoga class. Walked another half mile. That's how I do it on Sundays. Fitbit says I'm at over 15k steps and 7.25 miles and burned over 2700 calories. I've eaten about half that. I'll eat more later. |

I managed to motivate myself to do some weight lifting tonight. Did a giant set of chest, deadlifts, and abs. Finished off with more chest and triceps. I'm struggling to push myself hard after 10 hours of work, so my cardio is slacking. That will change when it's warm enough to bike to work.

This is a great thread topic, exercise has always been my favorite antidepressant! I am hoping to find time in my busy schedule but it had been so difficult

On Saturday I did 1.5 hours of walking in water at the pool.
On Sunday I did 1.25 hours of restorative yoga (body twists being supported by props). Today I just did some walking - to the grocery store and back. Tomorrow I will walk to my brow threader which would be a good distance to walk. |

This morning walked the 0.4 miles to the gym, got 7.46 miles on the stationary bike in 20 minutes, went to yoga and walked back home. Have to dress more warmly and go to my storage unit today. Ugh. But, at least I'll get more busy time.

Yesterday I managed to do some weighted squats and then 3000 meters on the rowing machine. Not great, but I feel myself slowly getting back into shape.

I wanted to go to the gym but the weather was crappy so I practiced yoga at home. Grateful I didn't go to the gym, because the yoga unleashed a storm of gas! Almost want to find someone to Dutch oven a few times. XD

Since I made 12,000 steps yesterday, I will keep it down to maybe half that or less. I only count steps that I make when I am exersizing. IMO no other steps count.
If I walk to the bathroom and back several times during the day, and other like stuff, I can total hundreds of steps over the day. Since I had to put absolutely no effort into it, I do not think I would be expending the same calories if when I am exercising and placing a good effort at my exersize. Actually, I believe very very little calories are expended walking around the house no matter what the count. I think heart rate can indicate what kind of effort I am putting into my exersize. This is why I try to get my heart rate above 150 bpm during an exersize. Besides, step counters are usually very inaccurate with walking in a confined space while doing other activities like getting up and sitting, and washing the dishes. Sometimes my good step counter, one that has less than 5% error on walks, totals over 1,500 steps while I am in my small home. This is grossly inaccurate. |

To provide an example, a 170 pound person would burn an average of 139 calories sitting down in an hour, vs. 324 calories per hour walking at a decent pace. That is a huge difference! Even standing vs. sitting is a significant difference (186 calories vs. 139 calories). Now of course, calories aren't super important especially if you're not trying to lose weight. But walking works the major leg muscles, as well as helps to keep your heart healthy, improves mood, and so much more. We should be trying to get at least 10k steps per day, and every step counts whether it's from during exercise time or during casual walking time. |

Working out has been my main focus for the past couple months (latest depressive episode). It has a been a very positive outlet for me. My super lows during the day usually last about an hour, so I now go to the gym during that hour and no I don't feel amazing but it sure beats feeling even worse just lying in bed. And although I don't care too much about how I look when I'm depressed, it is encouraging to think about once I feel better I will be very happy with myself for working out the past months.

Today,
Elliptical, morning and again evening, 32 minutes each time. Yoga, mid-day and again evening, 45 minutes per class. Walked to the gym tonight. Attached is my Fitbit screenshot. I feel like I never stopped moving all day long. It looks like that too! I feel good about today. ![]() |

Didn't do much today. I normally walk and have slowly been adding jogging back to my routine. Had a school event this AM for my daughter, and I usually exercise right after dropping her off at school, before the weather becomes unbearable. I'm needing to gain weight anyway and still getting my stamina up. I'll try to do better tomorrow. It's hot out today.

I will walk to McDonalds and back. This should be about two miles. This will be about 400 calories burned. I can be more exact after the walk. I then need to increase the calories that I eat to offset this.

Walked a few miles, got 12k steps total today with putting things away etc. I'm feeling like bedtime right now, before 5:30 PM, but I know that dude is gonna bang on the neighbors' doors again some time. Usually I'm almost asleep about then. Also I don't want to get up super early
