Moose, congrats on the nice weight loss. Tracking my eating is pretty much the only way I can consistently lose, too. It's important. I once read that it is even more important than the exercise part of it, unless you run marathons, or the like.

ragingvortex, I hope your pain remains minimal. Can you do some exercise in your house/apartment? Maybe dance to some music?

I've felt well, physically. I'm sticking to my diet. I hope when I weigh myself on Friday there is a good loss. Last Friday I had a very minor gain, for no apparent reason. I know that sometimes that will happen and then the week after will more than make up for it. I'm crossing my fingers.

raging vortex, I hope your pain eases again. Didn't you write about a day of somewhat reprieve yesterday or the day before?

Bpcyclist, 25 miles! Maybe someday if I am living in France, I will see you pass by in a Tour de France peloton.

Well, I am happy with my week's weight loss. Down 2.8 lbs. Last week I was up 0.6 lbs, but that was likely not indicative of my fat loss. I knew this week would show it. Since 4 1/2 weeks ago, I have lost a total of 8.4 lbs (3.8 kg). I am aiming to reach 10 lbs or more before my vacation. Hopefully more since I am sure I will eat some diet unfriendly stuff there. Sorry, but a pastry is a must! Bpcyclist, did you ever make those croissants?

I have some blood tests next week that include comprehensive metabolic ones. I sort of doubt I have normalized all past out of range results, yet, but believe they will be improved.

I have an appointment with my nephrologist on September 1st. I was surprised to learn it will be a video appointment. That's strange considering what health care professionals are seeing patients face-to-face. Usually his nurse takes my vitals and asks about medication changes. Then the doctor checks my ankles and heart, which are always fine, then goes over my blood test results. Obviously they want to officially meet, even via video, because of money, but it doesn't seem necessary considering what they won't be able to do.

I imagine most people know how they can have large weight fluctuations, even within a 24 hour period. I read up on this topic yesterday and today. I found a couple interesting graphs that show results from a test on this. For those who love graphs as much as I do, you can see them at the following links:

File:PSM V58 D220 Human body weight variations over a 24 hour period 1.png - Wikimedia Commons (Days 1 & 2 for a particular test subject)

File:PSM V58 D221 Human body weight variations over a 24 hour period 2.png - Wikimedia Commons (Days 3 & 4 for same test subject)

As for the second graph, for anyone not immediately familiar with metric weight measurements, I added the following blurb when I posted it in my blog:

"On Day 3 at breakfast, test subject weighs 67.9 kg (149.7 lbs). After supper (same day), they weighed 69.55 kg (153.3 lbs). That shows as much as a 1.65 kg (3.64 lb) gain in same day. Weight decreases notably by breakfast the next day (Day 4)."

The above certainly provides an argument against weighing oneself every day, or especially multiple times per day. In fact, from my experience, monthly weigh-ins usually provide the most reliable evidence of true fat loss.

Nice job Soupe! I have decided to get back to tracking my food when we get back from vacation. My scale broke, so it is time to get a new one and get back on track. My eating hasn't been terrible, but my portions are off and my jeans are tight. I'll be 40 in a few months and I want to be in better shape when I get there.

I feel crappy today. I had an EEG done, so no coffee allowed before. The flashing lights gave me a major headache and I felt off for a few hours afterward. I drank some coffee and ate when I got home and that helped. Now I gotta wash the toothpaste like gunk out of my hair so I can get to packing.

No time for exercise today other than running around my house packing. I am looking forward to long walks on the beach next week. After that I'm going to get back to working out 5+ days a week.

Sending everyone lots of love and support.

Truth. I always weigh in the morning before breakfast. I think keeping the time the same helps me compare apples to apples. Weighing multiple times a day is a frustrating adventure and I'm not sure it adds value unless you're a wrestler trying to make weight

Headaches, ugh. Hope you get useful data from the EEG.

The air is very smokey, hot, and heavy, but I'm still managing short walks every day. Cannot wear a regular shoe yet on my right foot due to the surgical incision being touched by the shoe (painful). So I'm still using the walking boot.

Walking and riding bikes a lot on vacation. It feels good to stay so active while we relax. We are mostly eating in due to covid, so my food choices have been good so far...except for pizza the other night

I am sorry that those in pain continue to suffer. It is an unfortuante hand and you all continue to inspire me with your strength to endure these challenges.

Still feeling sick from too much fat. Experimented with an egg McMuffin today as they’re the healthiest breakfast item at McDonald’s but no go. 12g fat. Yesterday I was fine for most of the day, a bit of nausea after I ate bread with low fat margarine but it passed quickly. Had a bagel with “extra light” cream cheese for breakfast yesterday and all was well. Hot dog and a single deviled egg for dinner and it was fine.

Today we are having homemade chicken fajitas for dinner. I expect that won’t bother me as vegetables, seasoning, and chicken breast are all low fat. Just can’t put my usual cheese and sour cream on

I have lost 5 pounds in the last two weeks. I'm keeping track of what I eat with an app. It knows the fat, calories, carbs and protein of thousands of foods. I have a target to not go over 1300 calories a day. I know im eating too much fat though as there is a pie chart that breaks it down for you. Gotta get more lean protein. Guess I should invest is some chicken breasts.

Moose, when I was on a major diet I found tuna is great because it's high protein and low in calories.

I used to have it 3 times a week for lunch at work.

I got the tuna in water, not oil because it had fewer calories.

That's great. Unfortunately, I'm allergic to seafood including fish. I have tuna here but shouldn't eat it.

I feel like fat is falling off my body. I am now almost wondering if my mood is elevating. My projects are more numerous than I can remember. My physical activity has skyrocketed. My mood is especially good, but I don't see/hear myself otherwise looking or sounding hypomanic/manic. I am driven beyond belief. I am a woman on a mission.

I haven't had my monthly for quite a while. If it is perimenopause, it seems early at 49. Maybe other women have it this early, but most women in my family had it later in life. My gynecologist said to hold off on the biopsy until after my vacation. That's what I wanted, anyway.

I am nervous that we won't manage to get covid tests in time for our trip. There is a very strict time window for getting the test done and needing the results. You would think in a country like the US that anything would be possible, especially for extra $$$$$, but maybe not this?
