I'm finding it very hard to stay motivated to keep exercising.

I cycled 5 days a week for 3 weeks and I didn't notice any change in my mood.

I do an intense 30 minute work out on a stationary bike. I get my heart up to 140bpm and I'm definitely tired afterwards. I tried to go longer but I can just manage another 5 min because I don't yet have the stamina to go longer.

I thought of maybe making it easier by using a lower gear so that I could cycle longer but I don't see the point.

I think I should have noticed something after 3 weeks, right?

I did a bit less exercise this past week, too. I know I have to get moving more again. I hope we all do.

Friday (today) is my weigh in day. For the first time since starting my weight loss journey, I had a gain, but only 0.6 lbs. Still, it was a bummer since I am again in the next higher 10-lb weight bracket. Last week I had met an interim goal to get below that, which I did by only 0.2 lbs. I set a new interim goal, but need to return to the previous one.

My gain was not totally surprising since I have felt a bit bloated since yesterday morning. It's surely hormonal stuff going on. I did not exceed weight loss calorie amounts even once this past week. Not once. I am hoping that when any hormonal stuff passes that my weight losses will resume. Maybe even a nice size one.

I would like to get my monthly soon to avoid having it during most of my vacation. Plus, I would like to get the uteran biopsy over with. I haven't had a "normal" period in a while. The last one was four days of almost nothing, and that was almost a month and a half ago. The biopsy is not because of fewer periods, but because at some points I had been having too many. It is all a mixed up mess! It is possible that my ovarian cyst issue is to blame for the too many. Perimenopause for the rest? Or something else.

I am supposed to get thyroid and hormone blood tests, too. But again, only when the stupid period comes. When will that be? Please now. If during vacation, I may have to wait a whole lot longer for all of the tests.

Sorry you're not seeing the effects Scooter. You definitely seem to have a very resistant case. I am continually in awe at how well you handle it and keep trying new things.

I was wondering what your diet is like. I've seen a good bit of research linking depression and diet. I know the causes of issues can be multifaceted, so maybe there's a clue there?

I would keep going with the exercise. It is benefiting you even if you cannot feel it yet.

I am surprised you have not noted more benefit. That said, I ride alot and still I get much, much better brain benefit from running for 40 minutes than from biking 80 miles over 4 hrs. Bike helps. Running is better. No idea why. Maybe you need to look at rowing or fast walking or something. Also, getting outside has benefits a stationary or treadmill do not. I believe that. Do yo do Strava? Are you taking fish oil and how much?

Hugs.

Having a decent day on the physical front. We walked at the park for a bit this morning and I worked out my legs and arms. I pulled one of my intercostal muscles and it keeps me from doing a number of things, but I'm doing what I can.

My eating has been blah lately. Too much sugar and junk. I know it makes a big difference in how I feel. Its time to reign it in for sure. Afternoons are my weak point. I think I need to get a few mantras going to reprogram my thinking. Less 'one little snack won't hurt' and more 'are you truly even hungry?' The mindless snacking is unnecessary.

Just a quick recovery run. Get some lactate mobilized. Felt good. Rest is a crucial part of running. Overtraining is super common. Hugs for everyone.

My diet is good. I'm vegetarian and my weight is normal.

I watch my protein every day but I know I get too much startch from things like rice and pasta and I also like my sweets.

No I don't take fish oil anymore. I used to but didn't get any benefit from it. I forgot what type and how much but I was on it for a long time.

I did much better on my diet today. Had a deficite in calories. Other values were good- except this program gives coconut oil a "D". Most other things were an A though.

So diet isn't likely a cause, but it might be a contributor. The Mediterranean diet has been shown to have success with depression. I imagine you could easily do it as a vegetarian. It might be worth exploring. Also, I agree about the fish oil.

I wish the exercise would give you a little boost. Hopefully you'll get there in time. I'll be pulling for you.

I hit my first weight loss goal!!! Ten pounds down, 75 more to go! I’m beginning to think I can actually do this! This is the first time in years I’ve consistently stuck to a “diet” (which is really just eating less food overall). I’m so proud of myself!!!

Last night was the first day I really went way over my daily calorie allowance, after three and half weeks of not. I just had such a surge of stress that it was hard to control. I'm back on track, for the most part, but confess I did order a single serving sweet spot in the grocery delivery order due to arrive tonight.

I need to stop eating ****. Apparently my favorite chips now make me sick. I had some yesterday and felt like crap afterward. Then I had some today (not even a lot, maybe an ounce) and felt like crap again. THEN I had an ice cream sundae and I feel sick again. Let this be a lesson to me. Even though I was still within my calories yesterday and today, the actual food doesn’t sit well with me.

I figured out a year ago that fast food fries make me sick. I only eat crinkle fries in the air fryer now. Totally fine. McDonald’s fries? Blech.

I guess it’s just as well. Better to change my diet.

Today I had a follow-up with my surgeon (for achilles surgery). The healing is coming along as expected, but it's a slow process. Still quite a bit of swelling around the surgical site and soreness there, too. But I'm doing short walks every day and the terrible pain is gone!

I have lost 4 pounds this week just by keeping track of what I eat- calories, fat, carbs etc. I need to walk though!!
