Migraines can be some of the worst pain out there. Tylenol just doesn't cut it after a while. Ask your doctor about getting Sumatriptan. (Maxalt is great too but my insurance won't pay for it.). Sometimes it's all I can do to just ball up in the fetal position and just sit with the pain. It's better when you can catch them early. Like tonight as an example- I had the pain at the base of my skull that turned into throbbing. Not as bad as when I get in the fetal position rocking back and forth- thank goodness. I hope your doctor can prescribe something and you don't have to go to the ER. (They give you a lot of Benadryl there for migraines oddly enough.). There's a shot that I've gotten in the Drs office that you can get if your migraine has lasted days and it works well. Within minutes, the pain is gone. What helps is being in the dark and quiet.

I used a homemade ice pack and put that on my forehead. That helped. Then I put my phone away I guess even the light from the phone was too much. Then I just went to bed. I woke up feeling better. Although the ice pack was so melted when I woke up the only way not to make a complete mess was to drink it. I mean it was just fridge water ice cubes. Not a big deal. I think the cold water might have even helped.

Although I don't think things are necessairly ok with me. I'm not sure whats up though.

This afternoon my husband and I are going to an expat fair. We have no idea what to expect. Very few of the seminars look interesting or helpful, but just meeting others could be worth the attendance.

Woke up with this same migraine! I took a Sumatriptan but I'm thinking I may have to go in to get the shot.

Tylenol type stuff never helps migraines in my experience. Can you get a prescription for some triptans of some sort? They’re pretty effective.
Thanks for this!

Do you only take sumatriptan pills? If so, if migraines are a bad on-going problem, they do offer injectable sumatriptan that you can inject yourself. I used to have ones that I injected into my thigh. I'd find that in as little as 10 to 15 minutes the migraine was pretty much gone. There would be almost a cool/pleasant rush feeling that would go straight to my head and extinguish it.

I'll have to talk to my doctor. I see him a week from next Tuesday. Theres a few things that don't feel right with me besides the migraines. At this moment I feel ok although my stomach feels like its starting to become a bit queasy again.

I sometimes go in to the Drs office to get an injection that gets rid of the migraine in maybe 10 or 15 minutes. I'm not sure what's in it. I'd like to have the injections you're talking about to save for the really bad migraines when the Drs office is closed. That's interesting about the cool/pleasant rush - to extinguish the pain like pouring water on a fire.

Nausea can be part of migraines.

I get super hungry and then I try eating and its like I get the creeps or something and my body starts freaking out and I get super tired and nauseated and I get the hot and cold flashes and this just seems to happen all of a sudden after. I just ate 5 steamed dumplings after being ravenous and it feels like my body is just gonna give up or something. Its weird and I've lost 5 pounds in a month. But if I don't eat I feel ok. And I can drink soda and be fine. I've actually been craving a lot of soda. Its just this weird thing I have going on right now. So far I just have the sudden fullness borderline nausea feeling but I don't have a headache. I have the chills though so I'll put on a blanket and hopefully I won't get hot 10 minutes later. I went to bed at 6 and woke up at midnight so I may just be tired. I'm just doing random chores and watching TV today. I did laundry yesterday but I only had energy to transfer it from the dryer into hampers. So far today I have my jeans put away and I have my shirts and hoodies on hangers but they are lying on my bed. My underwear and socks are still in the hampers. I'm nowhere near where I was last night though. Last night I was wondering if I should get tested for covid or the flu.

The dumplings got out of my system and I then was feeling pretty good. Then about half an hour ago I drank a slim fast for dinner. And now the nausea is there and the headache is coming back. It looks like it will be another migraine. I've eaten enough calorie wise though so I'm not worried about that. And I've had 2 bottles of water. So I feel hydrated too. The shirts I got put away in between commercial breaks.

Advil would be great right now but at least 4 medical doctors told me not to take it. I'll just close the curtains and blinds and take tylenol again.

I’m in a good mood 😄 the weather is finally pleasant. Bright sun and up to 50F today. On top of that I’ve been saving money everywhere and they had my favorite lemon sour soda in stock! I saved $8.77 on gas and more than $20 on mum’s eye pills. They had a buy one get one 50% off plus I had a coupon. A very nice day to run errands. I let the gas go down to less than a quarter of a tank I was so reluctant to pump gas in the rainy windy days we’ve been having. I kept waiting for a nice day. Usually I don’t let it drop to more than a half tank. It’s just a peculiarity of mine. Was making me nervous having it that low.

But I forgot to take the planter pot to exchange. I bought a new pot for the flower my daughter bought us for Mother’s Day last year, it’s gotten bigger and needs a new pot. The pot I bought looked big enough in the store but it’s too small, need the next size up. It’s flowered twice now and we have no idea what it is.

Happy sparkle vibes all around. ✨

Ha, for sure!

You know, it's odd. Something I noticed when I googled the pdoc's name is that a few years ago she had a private practice in Idaho. She closed it and moved to California for a short time, then to Kansas (telehealth only). After a little while, left Kansas and moved to Arizona. Then to New Mexico. 2 months ago she moved to Washington (state). Since closing her practice she has been contracted to various clinics, telehealth only. She's not married, no kids. Maybe she likes to experience living in different places...maybe she's a screwball who can't get her life together, so keeps outrunning herself. If I dug deeper I may find that she had licensing problems in the states she lived in. One reviewer wrote that "She really lost it with me and screamed that 'everyone is out to get me!'" One does wonder......

I never called about getting a Saturday urgent care visit at my doctor's office. I took another Sumatriptan and went back to sleep for 3 hours. Luckily, when I woke up the migraine was gone and hasn't returned- Knock on wood!- because I think I'm maxed out on the number of pills that you can take in a 24 hour period..

HI all, haven't posted in a long time, just checking-in in the checking-in thread.

Seeing my semi-new pdoc this coming week and been a bit down for a couple months, with some SI each evening when I get tired. Not sure why, there's no reason for it; not to mention that I've worked fairly hard at actually getting tired and going to sleep at about the same time each evening (9-10pm). Kinda concerned as I haven't talked about that with this newish doctor before and I'm not sure where he'd draw the line. I just really don't have time to spend in a hospital right now, and think it'd be more than a little overmuch for what I'm experiencing.

I do wonder a bit whether dropping the trazadone has led to this state of affairs, it is an antidepressant after-all. I just felt proud of myself at the improvement in my sleep routine and being able to keep it going without the assistance.

I take trazadone every night but it's prescribed "as needed". I've been sleeping ok lately but sometimes I don't even with it. I'm glad your routine seems to be helping- I think that's half the battle- having a routine. As for the SI, I understand it coming on at night when you're tired. Please keep a close watch on it and don't hesitate to call somebody if you start making plans! Or even maybe before that!

Well, i'm back. I lasted all of five days. I've been writing on bipolar forums for 15 years. I guess it's just part of my life.

Not much new to report. I keep plodding along at the same sedate pace. I tried to have fun at a 50+ forum but one of the threads was, How do you fold a fitted bed sheet? So inane. The chat room there is good tho. I met a fun woman who told me Speedos are called "Budgie Smugglers" in Australia!

I think i had my Spring boost of high mood that week or ten days where i was eating meals at the table on real dishes and doing the dishes and cleaned out a cupboard. This year is feeling a lot like 2020 where i was depressed almost all year except for brief boosts in the Spring and Fall. Pretty much given up on any genuine hypomania this year. There's still time -- i'm usually flying by Easter, but it's doubtful.

@~Christina:

Belated H@pPy BiRtHd@Y! Grats on getting you hair cut. It sounds lovely. Mine is growing in nicely too, got two (2) compliments on it today!

@BeyondtheRainbow:

Grats on the good medical results. Good luck on your next step.

@Soupe du jour:

Your travel plans sound exciting. I don't travel and sometimes feel left out but i heard that the Earth rotates at 1000 miles per hour at the Equator, so i guess you could say i DO travel!
