I was wondering what people were using that is kind of homeopathic remedies. Like do you drink a calming tea, do you use a weighted blanket and so on. I'm looking at some natural remedies to try out to see if it helps with my bipolar tired of always depending on big pharmacy.
The one thing I use every so often for sleep is melatonin gummies and I like them. I ran out last month but was going to go get some today or tomorrow. So if you don't mind can you say what you use and what for and if it helps. Thanks everyone I really appreciate it. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk |

I drink lavender chamomile tea and take melatonin gummies for sleep, have a weighted blanket (that I always/only use during telehealth appointments), and spend a lot of time outdoors to ground myself. This one's a little controversial and not the best if you're prone to psychosis but I also smoke weed which helps a lot with the PTSD/anxiety/hyperactivity/insomnia that always gets ignored by my treatment providers (indicas are a lot friendlier to me than sativas). When I have voices I always listen to music with headphones on which helps. I also have an aromatherapy diffuser (I don't think it does anything to help me out but I do like the smell of an assortment of essential oils and just having something sensory to focus on can be grounding).

None of the things you guys mentioned are homeopathic. True homeopathy is where they dilute stuff in water to where it is undetectable. It’s pure pseudoscience and dangerous if you actually expect it to give you some benefit beyond placebo effect. I consider those practitioners criminals at best.
Home remedies are totally different. I’m with @Sapien, I smoke weed. My psychiatrist would be pissed if they knew I still do as they say it’s a dangerous ticket to mania. I’ve been doing this for almost 30 years, I think I’m good. |

Alternative therapies. I use melatonin, aromatherapy ( like Sapien I don’t know that it has any real benefits but I like the scents.) mindfulness 🧘*♂️ and meditation. Books and quiz shows are my distraction method.

Yes, alternative therapies, alternative medicine.
In the past when I could afford it I regularly saw an acupuncturist. I had had kidney infections that were torturous and western medical treatments weren't helping. A friend told me about acupuncture. I was very skeptical, but I was desperate, so I went for treatments. Turned out that acupuncture worked wonders for me. Since those treatments so many years ago I have not had another kidney infection. I would love to go for acupuncture again, but the money just isn't there. My niece is an acupuncturist, but I would feel bad to receive treatments from her and not pay. Breathing, meditation, mindfulness. I also find scents soothing. Candles and I buy body butters (lotion) from Etsy shops. For me, hemp oil is especially helpful for my skin so scented hemp oil is a real treat. But I'm careful not to mix up fragrance oils with essential oils, because they are from very different sources. I should find tea calming, but it's never done much for me...there is a Yogi Tea, Honey Lavender, that I like sometimes. But give me 3 shots of good espresso any day - and actually, espresso really helps if I'm getting a migraine. I'm cautious with herbal medicine...I can't afford to see a homeopath and messing with herbs has sometimes had a very detrimental effect on me - possibly due to a medication interaction. So while herbal medicine is intriguing to me I wouldn't get into it too deeply without the guidance of a healer who practiced not only herbal healing, but also had an excellent knowledge of psych meds. That's about all I can think of.

Oh, I have to second acupuncture. When I was in Austin tx there was a acupuncture clinic that was very affordable and it did wonders. Like Beth I can’t afford it now but yeah.

Honestly, I could use a little bit of weed to use to put myself to sleep. After I had a miscarriage I was mourning deeply and unable to sleep. Weed did help. The cost since it's so-so legal here is crazy now, not doable for me. And the biggest problem with weed is that it causes the same munchies that AP's cause. That's the discouraging part.
