Hello ppl. I haven't received many explanations and docs are happy with simplified answers at the moment, but it looks like bipolarity shares flat with some OCD in my case.

Can you pls tell me if you've ever felt this way?:

1. Rumiations: I often have mental conversations with myself or spend some time rehearsing future conversations (with real people) in my mind.

2. Superstitions: Some words or news on the tv I consider as a bad omen so I need to mentally and pshysically make a small ritual to counteract it.

3. Self sabotage: I fear having bad thoughts and that triggers them.

Rings any bells? Cheers.

Me too. I also struggle with constant phrases of the same songs playing over and over and over for months before another song takes over (I'm still sometimes stuck with Christmas music now in July along with other stuff). I hate it.

I count so much that I'm having a hard time right now with cinnamon. I reduced the sugar I put in my oatmeal so I need less cinnamon but I'm used to 25 taps. Now I'm trying for 10 and it is so frustrating.

When I have my MRIs every 6 months I count the noises the machine makes. Which is maybe an OK coping technique since that is a really hard thing for me but i know it's really OCD.

I don't think I count colors or shapes, just routines and repetitions more than anything.

I do the ruminations. Having conversations with myself or imagining conversations with others. I think this is relatively benign. It passes the time and i can't see any harm. If you've got a really demanding schedule and it gets in the way of getting things done, i guess it's a bad thing. But i have the time, so why not?

As you and @BeyondtheRainbow say, I also heard music repeating itself in my mind. When closing doors or closing faucets, I needed to count to three and then close them... these and other superstitions where quite time consuming. I'm now bipolar and somehow my OCD is milder now, but still annoying when I fear thinking something bad (I don't know if there is a formal name for it).

Thanks
