There's a thread titled "What did you do right today?" by sundog and DocJohn in the Self-Esteem forum. I post there occasionally to remind myself that all things aren't so "bad"...and it's helped me to ground myself at times.

So I thought it might be nice and uplifting for us to have a place where we can share our big and small victories while we slog through the bpd jungle. (Edit: feel free to post here even if you don't have bpd.)

Today: Finally got out of bed and took a long shower. Walked my dogs around the park and bought myself a delicious soy chai.

: As someone with low self-esteem, I tend to focus excessively on all my failings and all the things I do wrong. My brain just automatically goes to a place of negative self-talk.

I have found it helpful in the past to have a thread where people can list some of the things that they do right each day. So I thought I would start one here and I hope that some folks might feel like joining in! The idea is just to write down any daily accomplishments, big or small, that you feel like sharing!

What I did right today was to make an effort to go somewhere with my Mom that she wanted to go, even though I wasn't feeling good. And making that effort actually made me feel better!

Love this thread topic, morningcalm

Today, I sat and had a leisurely lunch with coworkers/friends; I am allowing myself this time right now to not focus on work, but to read through my dbt and PC stuff instead; and I WILL find time to meditate and relax tonight before bed.

I hope you all find one extremely pleasant activity to give yourself today (and every day ...) - it helps.
Thanks for this!

Went out for a run.

Did the dishes.

Put lights on my dark&empty Christmas tree

that's been standing in the corner of my living room for 2 weeks.

lay down for an hour today.

forced myself to know that it was NOT a waste of time.

I need rest in order to work or play.

Bought some soft flannel sheets in french blue -to replace the ratty 5+year old ones. Thought I might as well be comfortable since I spend so much time in bed.

Made grilled salmon and caesar salad for dinner. I have to remember to eat since I've been feeling light-headed and weak lately, and getting too thin.

Also had some ale...and stopped at 1.

Ummmm... I got out of bed? Although I'm not sure how much that was for me, had to take guniea pigs to the vet.

I had some candy, all for me and didn't share with my kids!

thats awesome...!

when I am relentlessly vulnerable and FREAKIN' out...

I make my bed nice and neat and clean....cos I know I will stay there for a bit...

as for the meal...yummy mate!

that comes spontaneously....like at the point of starvation...pancakes or soup or something.

ale helps motivate me

...this is easily the best topic ever!

the simple things are so cute and....well simple...

but for me ...so necessary.
------------------------

I bought a new pack of soap...

and with a little self assured 'audacity'...abused 3 idiot motorists,
on my way to the psychiatrist....I smiled at everyone else on the way that was looking...and I meant it,

just a glancing grin!

I let myself be a complete dag today in public...because thats how I 'think' I feel....and it was very good indeed

my smoke alarm woke the nearest members of my world during the night....but I didn't apologise...they make shitloads of noise un-accidently!

I wondered about heaps of really awful things...and even now still am!....but I did try to not reject myself for these fascinating disfunctions.

I woke as usual in a panic, believing I was sentenced to death by life itself!

I used my new soap to wash my silly face a bit and hung my towel out to dry in the sun....

yep

Searched "self-abandonment" after the idea occurred to me that this was a possibility.

Read a chapter in the book "Mindsight" and enjoyed it very much.

Considered my need for structure and possibly providing that for myself via LPN schooling.

Made coffee and am about to work in a cross-stitch that I began for a Christmas present but didn't finish in time for 'this' Christmas.

Thought about how to end the gift-giving at Christmas because I don't enjoy it. Once suggested we put the name of our favorite charity into a hat and drawing one or two out to give to in lieu of gifts. No takers. So, wondering how it would be if I just said that in lieu of any gifts (presumptuous, I know), to please make a donation to a charity of the giver's choice (and maybe give me a note as to why that charity was chosen/what it means to the giver to give to that charity). I just reallllly do not need any more shower gel. lol
Thanks for this!

If I said what I did today it would be too much information....

Wait!!! Me making that statement might be too much information because you could assume what the too much information might be about.. I don't know...

I also ate pizza, and drank some coffee, oh and I forgot I did have a pop tart when I woke up this morning... So exciting...

What did you do for "yourself" today?
Thanks for this!

He's on Comedy Central...videos on http://www.colbertnation.com/

The guy has to be enlightened or at least post modern. He's got all this figured out and he's an amazing talent. Totally mocks all the institutions without being crucified. He's the modern day court jester.

Lately he's been running fake ads in the presidential caucuses to screw with the process. http://colbertsuperpac.com/
