I need some ideas. All my normal distractions aren't working.

I've been out. I've gutted kids rooms. Changed them around.
I've tried sleeping. Relaxing. Just being mindful.

Nothing is helping me feel connected. I can't face my friends and family. It feels to painful to talk.

I've tried helping out in here that's not helped either.

I've not felt this bad in ages. I've had days but it's never lasted this long, apart from really sick. I'm normally good. At getting myself out of this place.
I just don't know what to do. :,(

What do you do that you really lose yourself in? For example, when I do my art, I forget the world and really get engrossed in it, the same for gaming. What do you have that is a passion of yours, hobby or past time that really takes you away from it all? there must be something, but if not, thats what you need to find.
Thanks for this!

Go to www.dbtselfhelp.com. Go to the section called Instant Mindfulness. There's some really good self-guided meditations there. Put up the volume a bit; nice soothing music too.

Also, same site, go to the section called Instant Access DBT. They have DBT lessons that you can access over the phone.

Do you have access to a video game system? Play something. Or go to the Games keyword on AOL or any other site with free games. Some don't require a lot of concentration and may get your mind off of things for a bit.

Make something to eat that you really like and try to put all your energy in to tasting it, feeling the texture, really get in to it. A piece of fruit or ice cream perhaps.

Let me know if anything helps.
Thanks for this!

Grey, is there anything happening in your life that is causing this? I've had lots of problems with this, but it was always a cause and effect thing. I'd have something happen and get really upset and then find myself where you are. If you can figure that out, that's the first step to solving it. I wish you the best of luck...PM anytime.
Thanks for this!

I don't really have anything, drinking a glass of wine laughing with friends.

Wine is a big no when like this... And I can't bare to be around any one right now.

I've put kids to bed early. I might try some hypnotherapy in a bit. I'm trying to keep focused on things.

Thank you I'm going to have a look at this.
I just made some toast as couldnt stomach dinner earlier. And having cup of tea.

And yes this has been caused by misreading a text yesterday. And totally over reacting to it. Even when the person explained it to me.

But it was to late. I think I was prob on the border of something to have misread the text the way I did any how.

I lashed out at myself, pretty bad too.

Done the bath. I've been out today. I've drove my car.
None of these normal distractions are working today. I feel like I have hit the wall.
I'm going to try this dbt thing on line that's been suggested

Outloud to yourself say "I am __________ because I misread a text. He meant _____________ but I took it as ___________. I accept that I overreacted. The way I reacted is not bad, but it's over now and time to let it go..... It's sounds silly, but it sometimes helps. Makes you see things as they are....
Thanks for this!

okay...next I was going to suggest making something fancy for dinner and looking up all the ingredients and immersing yourself in some cooking and the smells...

or on my self care plan is to text a friend maybe that might work for you...

I know how that is. It brings to mind my ex. habitually super late when going anywhere, and always when she had the car and picked me up I could expect 15 - 20 min tardiness from her. So I would still get pissed about it by the time she got there I was tense and fuming. Thing is there is one time, yes that's all I can remember, that she showed up on time. Guess what? I was still pissed already! I had gone through all the emotions expecting her to be late and when she was on time I didn't know what to do with myself and I couldn't calm down! It was too late to go back and appreciate and actually enjoy the fact she was actually on time once. >.<
