I'm glad I found this forum; not sure who else to vent to.

I get worked up over the smallest things. I envy those who can always go with the flow and just be calm and chill.

For example, playing Mario Kart- everyone else plays it and gets upset when they aren't doing good. Me however, start cussing and saying "f this and f that" and get really loud to the point people are scared to play with me. The funny thing is im not even that angry, I can be having fun still yet I just SHOW anger?? if that makes sense?

Then today, i tried to order pizza and was told I was out of the delivery area. A normal person would accept that and may be a little mad. I however FREAKED out over the phone because last week that location delivered me a pizza and I was LIVID that person messed up last week, bc i was under the impression I was IN the delivery area.

See? These are minor things. But my reactions are OVER THE TOP. Then EVERYONE gets all worked up and mad, but I hold on to the anger and then feel stupid for reacting poorly. Not sure how to get a handle on my emotions, but it's starting to really bother me.

I too can't control how angry I get! If I lose my daughter's pacifier I literally look day and night until I find it. I get really mean and aggressive. My husband always tells me to get over it and that we can just buy another but him saying that just makes me even more mad! After I find it, I feel stupid for being upset about and sometimes even while I'm mad I realize how stupid it is for me to almost be obsessive but I cannot control it.

Hello gratefulglitch,

Welcome to PC!

We all have our weaknesses, so try not to beat yourself up too hard. A big tendency that we all struggle with, at one time or another, is overreacting to stress of some kind. Learning how to manage our stress (and our outward reaction) is a BIG accomplishment! So, try to give yourself a break. We've all been where you are at one time or another.

I took DBT 3 times, and just recently graduated with some sense of accomplishment. One of the big things that I learned in DBT was Distress Tolerance. That skill set is truly very helpful in SO many ways!

Please check out the link provided. I have been there many times, and have always found helpful resources to use.

Very best wishes to you ~ I look forward to seeing you around again soon.
