I think it takes what it takes. I was very motivated to get better so I kept trying until I got it. I was able to go to a class closer to home and that made all the difference.

I'm motivated to get better and the class is about 5 miles away. But there are obstacles in grasping this, I think.

It takes what it takes, it took me two times before I could commit no matter what. You'll get there when you have it in you.
Thanks for this!

All I can tell you is I had to keep trying until I was ready to see it through no matter what . I clicked into place in my third group and then I was able to do it, over and over again. Maybe try again next month?

I think why DBT doesn't seem to fit with me is because I don't interact with people much. DBT seems to be focused on how you interact with people. My issue is intrusive memories, not relationships with people, not the people connected with those memories.

DBT has 4 modules, mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotional regulation and lastly interpersonal effectiveness , only 1 out of 4 is about relationships. If DBT isn't right for you, its ok, there are other modalities.

I took the Emotional Regulation and started the Interpersonal Effectiveness and that's what I got out of those two that they were more about yourself and dealing with other people. I couldn't relate to that because it wasn't what I needed.

It sounds like DBT isn't right for you and you have limited resources.

Really? Didn't spend too much thought on this response, eh?

I don't know what else to say to you. I think you could benefit from psychodynamic therapy. I was fortunate that my insurance covered it.

So, started DBT again, this session is mindfulness. Wasn't a good day to start this since I was still locked in to a dream I had. I will look at the handouts though and see what went on. I think this session will relate more to what I'm going through I think it is going to be a mental fight to get into it.

I hope so as well. I think it will if I can get my head clear prior to going and get grounded. But that's easier said than done. Maybe if I keep my eyes open during the relaxation exercise I could cope better.
