Ian,
I think you expressed yourself very well. I think it was really good that you explained what you needed from her and why. I am really impressed with your writing skills and being able to put thoughts down like that.
It's way cool that Jonny gave you some ideas of what you can do to occupy your time. He sounds like a good friend. If you did something like the roof thing then you would have something to do and make a little money. I know that would make you feel better. Writing articles that you mentioned about human rights sounds very interesting and if you can do that then please do!! How fulfilling that would be for you.
That revelation you had about God and how things were just to amazing to not have been "created". I have the exact same thoughts. It's so sad that people forget to look around and see the little things. There is so much amazing, simple beauty.
I believe in God myself but I don't know anyone who believes like I do. I don't believe in organized religion. I think the church in most of the christian religions has made a mockery of God. (I do apologize if I offend anyone, I am just stating my personal belief)
I believe that a relationship is between God and each person and you don't need to go to church or stand and sit or sing a hymn that you are told to or repeat just what the preacher says. It should be more personal. I wish you all the best in your search for what you believe.
Geez, it's getting long but I just wanted you to know that I am glad you shared this and the more I have been getting to know you the past few days the more I like ya!!!

"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit's clever."
"And he has a Brain."
"Yes," said Piglet, "Rabbit has a Brain."
There was a long silence.
"I suppose," said Pooh, "that that's why he never understands anything."

I think this is a good letter, Ian. You get your points across very clearly, and the letter has a good 'flow'. Your friend, Peanut

Good job, Ian! You probably feel a bazillion times better having unloaded all that to her. Any reaction from her yet?

I'm with Heidu on the religion thing, although I'm not even really sure about the Gold concept. I consider myself to be agnostic at best.

Ian is going to be a-ok!

Ian, you did really well in saying what you NEED from her - that is great. You explained your feelings and conflict with an openness and honesty that is wonderful.

You did good!! Post deleted by DocJohn Ty for sharing that letter - it helps to understand you better.

I just want to let you know that I'm going to read your letter but I have to do it later. I have no more energy today.

I read your e-mail to Erin and I too think it was well written and that you expressed yourself very well. How did you feel after you wrote it? Have you heard anything back from her?

Heh heh - I realized I wrote "Gold" instead of "God" - I am working in the precious metals industry and I type the word "Gold" at least 100 times a day! Bad habits are hard to break - heh heh!

Ian is going to be a-ok!

Ian, great letter. You have gift of writing. I really like what your friend said, "I think that the reason we feel unwanted or alone is because we say No to them so much that they just get tired of waiting around for us and stop calling us and trying to invite us to stuff, and include us in things. Really we create our own problem and then blame it on them for us feeling alone and unwanted". Been there, done that. Hard to recover from.

I have the same "religion" too, it seems. The closest "organized" religion I have found that expresses this is old time Quaker. This in turn, seems to share much of what I have read of Kabbalah, or Jewish spiritualism. I am not formally involved with either, but if asked I say I am a Quaker.

If asked I say "I believe in God". When asked which religion I say "none, I believe in God".

Ian,

Thank you for sharing that. Your letter was very well written and shows that you have very good insight. You explained yourself effectively too. Especially after reading this, and seeing your other posts lately, I have this feeling that you are going to be okay.

Hey Quaker! I'm originally from Pennsylvania, and my ex-stepson went to a Quaker school. I agree with you - they were fair on many counts!

Ian is going to be a-ok!
