((((((((redredblueblue)))))))I don't think they do the straitjacket business so much unless you are really trying to hurt yourself or someone else. I haven't been to the more acute end of the hospitalization process, but I think someone else here might be able to tell you more.
From what I understand, it is sometimes a necessary place to go to break the downward spiral and get someone the help they need. You might be able to get contact with a therapist or p-doc through the hospital if you don't have one already. I know that it feels really scarey, but it might be a really good thing, actually. Keep watching and I'm sure someone with more to say will reply. Thinking of you dear, stay calm. Warm and gentle huggs.

I have been to the adult mental hospital many times. It's not like what is on TV. As long as you are not actively hurting yourself or others they will not put you in restraints.
You wear your own clothes and have people to talk to all the time. There will be group therapy and activities--like art therapy.
If you are losing control of your suicidal ideation, you should go to make yourself safe.
Best Wishes

They don't use the restraints unless you are a danger to yuorself or others. And when they do, they don't leave you in them very long. My uncle was in a mental hospital for some time and it was very nice. They had a rec room and T.V. and books to read. It was really nice as far as hospitals go. It's not at all like you see on T.V. In some places you even get internet acsess after your there for so many days.

Now, forget the TV stuff, it is decades since it is not THAT bad. Unless you live in some third world country of course. But it is not teh case, right?
Now, if you were in need of restraint and isolation and otehr nasty things, the guy at school would run you to the hospital right away, not just "want" you in the hospital. So don't fear hospital as your worse enemy, it can be of help. A friend of mine was hospitalized after a suicide attempt (serious attempt). Sicne it was not necessary, she was not subject to any strict measure, and it was a beneficial experience for her.
We all watch television too much, really, don't get scared

At least with Mobile Crisis you are in the comfort of your own home. However--I don't see inpatient as being to bad. I did it when I was a kid--Never as an adult. I didn't like the childrens home when I was younger, I just wanted to be left alone. Now that I'm an adult and more aware of my feelings, sometimes I think I should seek inpatient treatment.

If you tough it out with mobile crisis, they shouldn't advise you to inpatient. However on the contrary, if you are thinking about hurting yourself or anyone else---Inpatient IS the best place. You can get the round the clock help you potentially need. Good luck

Going to hospital is a scary prospect but I felt safer there at that point and on the whole it was a positive experience for me - I needed some time without responsibility for myself or others and that's what it offered me. The thought of going was far worse than the actuality. I see you are in Canada and I don't know what mental health provision is like there, but I was in a psychiatric ward of a NHS (i.e public not private) hospital in the UK and there was a wide range of patients. It was a mixed ward and I was in a room with 6 beds - and it was still worth doing. I don't know if this is more similar to what would be offered to you?
Thanks for this!
