I want to go out, I want to take a walk anywhere, I want to do it now right at this very moment but instead I'm here sitting at my puter writing this, I feel so dead, lifeless and limp. I know it's not normal for a 24 yo to be like this.I'm scared to step out the house, I've grown afraid of people I know that sounds dumb, even to go outside in the garden I have to peep to make sure none of my neighbours are outside before I open the door,If I have to go further than home I leave very early or long after the other neighbours have left their homes for work.what is wrong with me?

Hi, Soon, Hun!
It sounds very "agoraphobic," what you're describing. I've experienced degrees of this myself at times.
It is not something to which you should surrender.
Please keep posting and let us know how you are doing.
Healing thoughts,
Seeker

Hi Soon. Yes, I agree with seeker. It sounds like agoraphobia. This is very scary. I myself went through a long period of time in my early 20's where I wouldnt leave the house for several month because I was afraid. There came a time where I had to make a decision. I could either stay in my home, secluded and unhappy or I could force myself to leave my home. I chose the latter. I couldnt do it all at once. I had to take little baby steps. First I would go and sit on my porch. Then I would walk to the mail box then I would walk down the street. Before I knew it I was able to go out for longer periods of time. Please be easy on yourself but be disiplined.

I know you can do this. Remember, baby steps. Even accomplishing sitting on the porch for 15 minutes is a great first step. Please keep up posted on this.

Good luck.

Hugs,

Jen

Yo STF!! what is wrong with me?

Don't worry, you're not an alien...I am agoraphobic, also. I have floated in and out for literal years. I remember when my BIG assignment for the day was to go downstairs (I lived on the 2nd floor) sit on the porch (3 steps) outside (it was summer, my favorite season) and smoke 1 cigarette (nasty habit) There was rarely any traffic on this street; homey atmosphere; beautiful weather; 1 cigarette (all of 15 minutes MAX) and run back into my apartment as fast as I could. In social events, 2 beers...I was o.k...as long as I could still see my guy! (and he was the head musician!)

I've floated in & out over the years; I'm in one now. I only time I'll leave my building is if someone is picking me up & dropping me off at the very front door & shoot up the stairs (2nd floor again) to my apt., and it's summer once again & we even have a cement patio so if I were to sit down, NO ONE could see me! Cannot do it!

If you like to research, there are hundreds of sources on agoraphobia; just look under anxieties/phobia's.....AND this year, they came out w/ a web site just for 100% agoraphobics! If you're going to be "froze" to your apt., and/or computer........make good use of your time! what is wrong with me?
