I have decided (against both my psych and Dr.'s recommendations) to go off my anti-deps. I saw my Dr. today and she said she would make a deal with me and give me sleeping pills if I promised to stay on them or up my dosage. I don't even want more pills! let alone sleeping pills.

A part of me knows I'm being stubborn, but I don't like the disconnect between my feelings and thoughts. I still feel crappy on them so I don't see the point.

I think I can make it. Scared, but hell, I have survived a little over 30 years without meds, so I think I'll be ok... I need to know I can make it without them. Sounds silly doesn't it?

Since you have decided to go off your meds, have you discussed that thought with the docs? I mean, will you have withdrawals if you stop taking them? Of course, it's up to you, if you don't want to take them anymore, it's just that I hope you check before you do, to make sure that you won't have problems.

Good Luck to You!!

Linda

I respect your decision. I am a 'no meds' person also, after being on a variety of meds for 11 years. This time I am just doing therapy, although I do take Xanax PRN but that is only every few days, if that.

Meds are a personal choice. IMO they are not necessary for everyone. One way to find out is to try and I wish you great success!

Do taper off with your doc's assistance to avoid very unpleasant withdrawal effects!

Hello I hope you are doing well at thie time. I just wanted to tell you that I have depression and anxiety, and I HAVE to stay on medication and adjust it sometimes in order to feel that I am happy and motivated. I have just got to the point that I feel that I deserve to fell good and that if that means taking medication to feel better then I need to take medication in order to feel like I like to feel, also I work long hours and I need the energy to get throught the day as well. I for one feel that there is a reason that you want to go off of the medication, and I am more than willing to help support you during your time of concern regarding taking your medication, because I FEEL that there is more going on than just stopping the medication. Perhaps the support you have at this time is not enough to meet your needs correctly in taking your medication regularly, I dont know, but i am willing to listen if you are willing to tell me how and what you are feeling regarding your medication. I will also leave you my email address in case you would like to email neohiodbsa@yahoo.com email anytime. I am concerned that you need a little more support than what you are getting and I am willing to support you in any way possible, if you will let me help you,. Take care Soidhonia

Not doing well at all, but meds don't seem to help much, and my memory is a disaster. Last night i didn't sleep at all - guess i was nervous about my decision.
life sucks right now... my supervisor at work told me i needed to not slouch, bite my nails, and needed to look more confident. it was really embarrassing... no, i didn't tell my dr. i was going off, my psych tried to pursuade me not to go off, and i know my dr. would blow a spaz, so decided to avoid that.

Thanks!
Last night I took a sleeping pill and felt so much better today. Maybe if I start sleeping, I'll be able to handle life better!
