Why would a so called higher being, cause this much pain and suffering to his creations! As my title says, I am not, nor ever will be. I do not believe there is a superior being up there or a heaven and hell. If anyone ever reads my posts, which looks like hardly anybody, since it seems to me I am a thread killer. On the 29th I will make a post about something. I do not know where to put it but it will be a trigger and part of the reason why I am an angry bitter person, who hates about everyone I have to deal with. Just search my posts from the last week and you will be enlightened some. If you don`t want to, doesn`t bother me one bit. I came here looking for people to talk to. I stare at 4 walls every single day. All I have is my music, my DVD`s, that I can`t watch more than 20 minutes or so a day and my Beagles. I am an only child (now) brought up in a very physical and emotional household. I actually sent my mother a message today, letting her have it with both barrels for lying to me for over 20 years about a few things. I knew but today, I had reached a boiling point and let it all fly. My oldest daughter has miscarried twice, so I have two little ones that never knew life. I just don`t understand, if there is a mighty being up there, why would he allow all this??? I will get off my soapbox now, like anyone will read this anyways!

I'm not going to say you have to believe in some being "up there". I'm not going to say you have to believe in anything. But you posted here so you must be looking for some kind of spiritual reply, or maybe you're not.
'God' to me is an energy. You can find this energy in numerous ways, in numerous things. Take, for example, your anger, your heartbrokeness, your disapointments. It is energy. But, it isn't a good energy You say. Isn't it? Its an energy that brought you here, to seek out others, to find someone who understands and cares, listens. But that doesn't fix thibgs, does it? Again, the answer is energy. If you wish things to be fixed, to be changed, you must find the energy, or, transform the energy You already have. How do I do that, you ask. Its simple, but, it's hard. Think about the energy You give to your thoughts. Are they constructive? Do they help you overcome your feelings of sadness, anger, disappointment? If they do not, you must change your thoughts. By changing your thoughts, you change your energy, by changing your energy, you change your life. Good luck. |

![]() I'm so sorry you were never able to meet your grandchildren. I can't imagine how hard the pain is to endure. I think I have read some of your posts but am going to take a look again. I hope something good comes your way. As for the title of your post, I have always been a "doubter" and it contributed to a lot of my "teenage angst." I wanted to believe, everyone around me did, but, I just don't. Faith does seem to provide a great deal of comfort to the faithful. It can be painful to not be part of such a wonderful thing but I think Alchemy63 had some nice thoughts. I understand why you are so disappointed; the beginning of life is miraculous. We come into the world innocent, sincere, awed by the simplest experiences. And how it is created is so mysterious, look at how beautiful flowers are when they first bloom. Flowers don't last long but they help life begin. Anyways, your hurt is understandable. Sincerely, Myst |

it is okay not to believe in a god, if you don't believe, you don't believe. it's that simple- and you're entitled to that. believe me, their are plenty of people who don't believe in anything like that and that's okay.

I'm very sorry for your loss of your grandbabies, and the other issues in your life.
As far as God goes, why is it His fault if bad things happen? Most people demand the right to do exactly as they see fit, and if they're told something is a sin, they're outraged and offended. God is expected to make sure everyone has a perfect life, but the things He tells us to do to have a good life are rejected.

God doesn't make bad thing vs happen. Sometimes stuff just happens and it's hard to make heads or tails of it. You can be an angry person or you can choose something different. Obviously you're comfortable being angry you can change it if you want.

I'm sorry about how your feeling. Anger and bitterness is toxic to live with. It turns against you . Some people like myself use our faith to deal with the trials we face . I hope you can find a way to find peace . I've been fortunate that when financially able I have had some good pdocs that helped. I m not that great at giving advice but I truly wish you well. Take care.

Hi,
I think that at least some of the pain and suffering that we experience as humans can be tied to choices that have been made in the past, whether we ourselves made the choices in question or whether someone else made the choices. My belief is that God gave us the capacity to make choices while also giving us some instructions on how to make choices that are the most beneficial both for ourselves and for others. Probably every human who's ever had the capacity to understand right from wrong and make choices has at some point made the wrong choices -- choices that both go against what we've been instructed to do and have also hurt somebody in some way. And I think that that's one reason why pain and suffering exist in this world. But I think that in addition to instructing us on how to make the kinds of choices that would end up being of the greatest benefit for us and for those around us, God has also given us the message that the pain and suffering that we experience in part as a result of choices that we've made and that others have made is something that can be overcome. That's not to say that we're not going to still feel hurt over things that have happened in the past and that some choices that we and others have made in the past aren't going to still have consequences into the future. And probably, we can't expect that we won't ever make the wrong choices ever again as we move into the future. But we do have the capacity to do good things and to make the kinds of choices that will make our lives and the lives of those around us better. The good things that we do for ourselves and for others do not necessarily need to be large, but I believe that God has put us here so that we can do good things and so we can do our part -- even if it's just a small part -- to transform the pain and suffering that all of us experience into something that's better both for those of us who are here now and for those of us who will be here on this planet in the years to come. We all make mistakes, but I also think that all of us have the capacity to do good things and will continue to have the capacity to do good things for the rest of the time that we spend alive. I think that that's why we're here. I personally think that it's God that put us here to do good things, but even if you think we're here just by chance and that God has nothing to do with it, I think that the reason why we're here is so that we can do things that make our lives and the lives of others (and that includes your Beagles and other non-human life on this planet, not just humans) better. |

Quote:
I don't accept the usual explanation that the Lord works in mysterious ways (or various similar wording). To me it's an evasion, a non-answer. I get the impression you feel the same way. Without getting into the metaphysics of it all - please just know you're far from the only one who feels as you do. The general presumption in our society is "Well of course there's a Higher Power, you just [don't understand / won't understand / can't see it, etc]." IOW, it's *your* problem if you don't grasp or can't accept what "everybody knows." That ain't so. I can't address much of what you wrote. I just wanted you to know that you aren't alone in feeling as you do. Far from it. ![]() |

Ahh religion, always a good topic for debate.. Seriously though, no debating from me.
I was raised by very very religious foster parents (bear with me..) - I grew up knowing "God". God is something that I grappled with for many years as an adult. I share the same feelings of injustice, and at times complete bewilderment. I was deployed to some places I doubt even the devil would walk, and saw things that will forever stay with me. During that time I felt your anger, your frustration, your bitterness, your pain. The feeling of being insignificant, small, unloved by anything. But believe me, screaming at something that you believe is imaginary won't be helping you go anywhere fast in this one. I am no longer religious in the conventional sense.. You could loosely tie me to Buddhism I suppose, but i'll save that for another thread. Before I completely lose track of where this is going - Honestly I don't truly understand the question you are asking, so i can't really answer it. Know though that you are never alone on PC. I've found that many times someone just needs to hold the right door open for me, and give a gentle nudge in the right direction to give me clarity in a situation. You have clearly been deeply affected by what has happened and are having a difficult time accepting what has happened, which believe me, i know that feeling well. It will come. Accepting what has happened is not a sign of weakness, it is also not the same as letting go. With time you will figure out how to deal with the strong emotions and feelings you are experiencing. As someone, somewhere once said - When you're already rock bottom, the only way is up..

(((IgiveupinOhio))) I am so sorry you're having a tough time. I don't know why, but some people in this world seem to have more problems than others. I personally believe God is allowing the devil to have his way, but God works things out for people who believe. Therefore, I have hope.
We are here to talk to you. How about joining some groups? There's even one for questioners: http://forums.psychcentral.com/group...t-deities.html We do care. Lots of us are caught up in our own struggles, but the ones who are okay for now try to be friends with fellow sufferers. I even play the games on here to pass the time. Okay? ![]() |

This is just how I figured this post would turn out. I do not believe and nobody will ever make me believe. You read the post I put up today and you will find the answers to you questions! Yes, I am an angry person with a heart black as stone! Read my post and you will find your answers. Anybody that get their *** whooped, when they are 3, 4, 5 years old and forced to go and dragged on purpose into that church, that it left bruises on my sisters and my arms all the time. Yeah, real good way to make me want to believe anything. So, if you want to talk about, Chronic pain, loosing your bowel control in your own bed, chronic pancreatitis(And no, I did not drink, if that is what you are assuming. they don't know why I got it) Diabetes, neuropathy, strokes, traumatic head injuries, being drug into an ER twice, almost dead, operations on your gut, Beagles, grandkids, drunks, etc, I will talk to you. Religion is strictly off limits.
